Generally we had good experiences with David Doyle. We bought a house from them and found Nicky from After Sales was professional, helpful, informative, and great at keeping us updated. One negative was when we viewed the property for the second time, we were given the same time window as the first viewing and felt rushed through to try and do all the checks we needed. The agent showing us around had notes on the property but was unaware it was a second viewing and was limited in her support.

Contacted them to let out my house. They were the company which offered the best service at the time.
When I engaged them, I stated that I required a quick turnaround as I would have to start paying council tax in a month. Now I didn't expect it to be quick due to the time of year but I was assured that the house would be let out very quickly and told that it was certain it would be let by the date stated.
In two months I had two viewings. I was informed of the appointment by text so was aware. I would then hear nothing about what had happened.
After The second appointment, I called up to get feedback, speaking to one of the staff there who told me there was news on the appointment.
It took me a week to get an answer, with promises of calls back broken repeatedly. People also told me that hey would get the person to call back, then when chased I would be reinforced that the person actually wasn't in the office working that day. Messages passed to the manager when I explained I had been waiting for several days were also ignored.
When I eventually spoke to the lettings agent he confirmed without my asking that he had received all the messages and notes. He didn't say anything else. The news on my letting was that it was declined due to the distance from the station. At this I wonder because it is five minutes from a train station, and ten to another so I have to question the knowledge of the area.
Based on the service I told him that I would be engaging another company, based on their lack of customer service. All I received were the normal platitudes; which didn't negate the fact that a quick phone-call with an update would have avoided this.
Whilst they might have reasonable rates their customer services are non-existent.

After having our house on the market with David Doyle for 6 months we have now changed agents. They did absolutely nothing to help sell our house other than suggest dropping the price. This was my first time selling a house and upon further Exploration of estate agents I have found the pictures they took to be a really poor representation of our property. They never called with updates or to catch up, unless I made a complaint to them about it, in which case I received one call a week for two weeks! I'm made them aware of the problems I had and nothing changed so I definately would not recommend.

Absolutely superb service! David Doyle were recommended to me by a friend who had used them for a house purchase. From the first appointment with Andrew, I felt confident that they would do a good job. They worked wonders with the sales brochure, under rather tricky circumstances. All the viewing appointments were taken care of, whilst being communicated to me, so I knew what was happening and when. Within days of my property hitting the market, I accepted an offer above the asking price. Since then, Debbie has kindly kept me informed of any issues and the progress of the sale. From beginning to end, their performance has been faultless and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

What agent could do to change your mind?
All we wanted was for them to do their job - oil the wheels of the sale, keep us informed, make us feel like they care and are acting on our behalf and share in the success and joy when a sale finally goes through. We had warmer and more genuine congratulations from other agents in the local area who weren\'t responsible for the sale. Nothing could persuade us to sell via David Doyle when we come to that stage.
Our experience fits with all other reviews on this site. Worst estate agent i have ever come across. Calls are ignored. Messages are not returned. They aim to keep clients in the dark as much as possible. We were not informed when our chain collapsed a couple of times - only managed to keep ourselves informed by setting up direct conversations with the vendor. We heard nothing after a relative collected the keys on our behalf - not even a congratulations or good luck wishes for our new (first) home. No communications at all since completion. As someone else said they 'sucked the joy' out of the entire process. On one occasion we discovered that the chain above us had (temporarily) collapsed. We set out in the car straight away keen to arrange some new 'just in case' viewings. On the phone to the agent in the car, I was told it wouldn't be possible to secure any viewings at such short notice, by the time we stood in front of them in the office they miraculously were able to make 3 appointments for the same day. Another member of staff told us he was a property developer and worked at the agency to identify the best properties before they even go on the market.

Worst estate agent I have ever come across. They don't ring you back when you want to view a property; block you when you want a second viewing but they have a 'preferred buyer' rather than encouraging buyers to compete; don't ring you back when you make an offer; and don't talk to buyer or seller when a sale is agreed. Exchange of contracts is a miracle that happened despite this lot and could easily have fallen through because of their unwillingness to return phone calls and inability to talk to buyers and sellers alike. They don't even apologise or offer any excuse when confronted with these facts. Potential sellers - avoid at all costs. Go to *the agent* across the road. Potential buyers - if more than one agent represents a seller, call the other one. If you must buy/sell through this lot get the contact details of the other party because this lot are the epitomy of terrible. Why can't I give them zero stars - previous comments are 100% representative of our experience.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Your agents need to know the basics of each property they show around. In fact, your job is to know more than the basics, so get a grip and start doing some homework. A 5 minute read of the facts before arriving at the viewing is NOT too much to ask. Sort it out.
Your office needs to be more responsive. You have one job to do, sell properties, and you have telephones and mobile phones. No body is so busy, or should be so arrogant, that they cannot extend common courtesy to those who pay for their services. This is the UK and we expect a basic level of service, if not more. Get it right. Do unto others as you would expect to be done to you.
Arrogance and rudeness...Sort it out. Being an estate agent does not mean you need to have these characteristics.
Can I advise you go undercover, pretend to be a buyer, and see how all the other estate agents in Hemel area do it. You will be surprised and may be inspired to change your ways.
Finally, if you cannot take my suggestions on board, I advise you to shut your office down immediately and do us all a favour. The world would be a better place indeed.

[[EDIT ORIGINAL START]] WORST ESTATE AGENTS EVER, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
These people are the Ryan Air of Estate Agents. They make the process more difficult than needed, and leave a thoroughly unpleasant taste in the mouth. They have sucked all the joy out, even at the very last point as I was getting the keys, they were too lazy to call me, claiming to be busy, and in the end, when I went to the office, they were stood around talking football. Cliche.
They are slow to respond, arrogant in communications, rude over the phone, and in most instances they don't have the answers to questions.
The seller had made the choice to use them, so I had no options. But I thought that would be fine, as David Doyles have the majority of properties in the area, so I assumed that they would be friendly and knowledgeable. How very wrong I was.
The agents who show you round the properties are just there to let you in. They have NO info on things that matter, like council tax, service charges, age of building, seller's profile, nothing. They don't even have information to hand which is already readily available online on in their own paperwork.
I have viewed a huge number of properties with different agents in this area, as well as North London and Milton Keynes, and I can say with confidence that DD agents are a total joke. They should be ashamed of themselves. If I provided that level of service withing my own business I would be fired immediately. It is a truly astonishing level of bad customer service.
As for the office, well, not much better. I was consistantly made to feel as if I am bothering them whenever I call, which was not very often. They were notoriously difficult to get hold off. The receptionist was rude and arrogant, and I must have had a call back once in every 10 times I tried. They were consistantly defensive, and spent a lot of time making excuses for issues which they thought I was complaining about, but all I actually wanted was to get some info and move the sale forward. But, as mentioned, they don't actually have any knowledge or info, so maybe they are trained to waste time talking about nonsense instead of things that mattered.
After a few months of the sale dragging out I started getting frustrated, but rather than complain, I started suggesting ways they could help, in a way I was trying to manage them, as they were not managing themselves. This did not help either. Whilst they were agreeing with my proposals, and thanking me for the advise, they would not act on it, and as per normal, would not call me back. It was a farce. A really comedy, Faulty Towers, Del and Rodney farce, filled with excuses and voicemails and the rudest cast members ever.
Many people in my office are sharing the same experience as me, and not one has shared a positive story about them. Many have said that they ended up moving away from David Doyle for their sale.
Regardless, David Doyle still seem to have the majority of sales in the area, so I can only assume that they are doing something right for some people. But nobody has recommended them to me. Which is strange.
I guess all I can really say is that they were the worst estate agent that I personally dealt with, and that I would not recommend them. Other reviews seem to agree, but the sheet huge size of their business might suggest otherwise.
Good luck with whomever you decide to use. I just wish David Doyle and I never cross paths ever ever ever again.
And can I add, this feedback website has been a great catharsis, what a relief to be able to get my experience out to the wider public.
Thanks for reading. [[EDIT ORIGINAL END]]
