Although we left the house in the same condition as it was (even better as i've fixed some small problems) they refused to return our deposit, whit excuse, that they can not contact the Landlord to return the deposit. Come on, it's 21 century, everyone has a mobile phone. When we moved in we paid the deposit to the agency, you can't move in, before you pay all the fees and deposit, but when you move out nobody care, that you may need this money for your next property. Now 5 weeks later, i'm still waiting. I've riced a dispute with Tenancy Deposit Scheme and will see what will happen. AVOID CONNELLS at any cost, anyway, it will cost you less.

Having lived in the South East of England all my life it was going to be a daunting experience to move to an unknown area. Having called into the store to see what was available in the area to meet our requirements we received a very warm welcome and knowledgeable agent whom we dealt with for the duration of the purchase of the property. Our agent not only arranged for viewing to suit our availability but was able to provide information of the area including restaurants. They also acted as go between when keys weren't present in the house and forwarding mail to the seller.
This provided us with an excellent and smooth experience which otherwise may have caused anxiety and would like to say a very big thank you to all the staff in Kettering. We would certainly recommend this team to others.

Selling my house was a painful decision as it was a result of loosing my husband of 30 years. I had my house on the market with another agent for 3 months and had 1 viewing with them in all that time. My neighbours, on both sides, sold within weeks with Connells so I decided to give them a go. It was done with style, no effort required on my part, and while I was away in France within 3 Weeks of it going on the market with them it sold for a very good price. Everything was done by Russell and he was available to speak to whenever I needed an update or a bit of advice. I moved out yesterday, I would highly recommend Connells. I would like to thank them for all their help.

They were efficient and tenacious in helping us out and getting things sorted. We also used their Conveyancers Langleys who equally as good and come highly recommended.
I agree the fees are expensive BUT as the saying goes if you pay peanuts you get a monkey!

Hi, I would like to share with you the highs and lows of my house moving experience. Back in 2013 I put my home up for sale with William H Brown. Unbeknown to be at the time they over priced the selling price by £50000. Just before the end of the three month contract, William H Brown contacted me and suggested that seen as no-one had come to view my home that I should consider reducing the sale price by £20000. As you can imagine, I was a bit perturbed, after all as Estate Agents surely they should know their market! It was purely work commitments and lack of time to research that led me to continue with them for the next few months. I eventually went on to another agents books, Simpson and Partners who were a bit more realistic with the sale price of my home, to the point I sold it. (subject to contract). Unfortunately their weakness was communication. Simpson and Partners failed to notify me, of the fundamental fact that my buyers purchasers had pulled out of there sale, which naturally left us all in the chain in a difficult position. It was three weeks before they admitted the sale had fallen through. It was the complete lack of contact and non return of phone calls that led myself and owners of the house I was purchasing, (who also happened to be with Simpson and Partners) to think something was wrong. It was our insistence and harassment that eventually led them to let us know what had happened. Simpson and partners lost both our contracts that day, and we lost surveyors fees and the homes we wanted to move into! Following my experiences I made the decision to take my home of the market. It was personal circumstances that led me back down the High Street earlier this year to once again walk anxiously into another Estate Agent. I entered Connells as a close friend had recommended them to me. Right from the onset the experience was different. The office is open, the staff welcoming and friendly and within a few minutes I felt comfortable enough to put my guard down. Russell Palmer gave me a realistic price to sell the house and as a result of my previous encounters with estate agents I had taken time to research the market and I agreed to the sale price and their terms and conditions. Russell introduced me to Rachel Oban, a lovely young girl, to arrange my mortgage. She was attentive, polite, understanding and reassuring throughout the whole process and kept me up to date regularly. Her efficiency and knowledge of mortgages has led me to recommend her to family members and friends who are also currently planning on moving house. She is a true asset to Connells! Within a week I had viewing's. The viewers were all in the correct position to buy, which instilled more faith in Connells, as from a buyers perspective, they were showing genuine interested people around and not time wasters. Russell took on board everything that I was looking for in a new home. His understanding of my needs led him to find me my perfect home. I knew from the moment I walked through the doors that the house he showed me round was ideal for me. My purchasers where organising their mortgage through Rachel also, which meant everything was in house and everyone was kept up to date with everyone's progress. My sellers were going into rental which made the chain in principle an easy one, but that wasn't the case. Russell Palmer took control of all the problems that arose during the sale of my home, which overstepped his role and coincided with the solicitors. Russell realised that everything would fail to go through if he waited for solicitors to take charge. He dealt with the majority of the liasing, negotiating and communications within the chain. He was HONEST throughout the whole process. There was a point when I was ready to give up and not go through with the sale, Russell found a way to reassure me that everything would work out. And work out it did...... I am now in my dream home.....it's a project, but I was prepared for that as it was on my original tick box. I've now been in my home for a month and I love coming home. I'm so grateful to Connells for making my home wish list come true! It was a tough stressful journey and I couldn't have got through it without the support from the Connells Team. THANK-YOU!!!!!
Warning....you'll be invited to the house warming...once I've got a kitchen :-)

What agent could do to change your mind?
Stop using a threatning manner to get your own way it won\'t work and stop trying to con first time buyers with you wares, that are not needed!
I recently visitied Connells in kettering as there was a house me and my fiancee were very interested in buying from them. We are both first time buyers, both of us are in decently payed jobs and we have worked very hard to get our deposit together. We went a viewed a house they had on their books that was perfect for us. We fought quite hard to get a viewing, as it seems that they do not have enough staff to show people around houses. I personally had to knock on the seller's door and introduce myself to try and get a viewing of the property. We found it more difficult to get help with viewings as Me and my fiancee work all day, 6 days a week. Connells close everyday at 5-6pm and they do not work Sundays, most of the Estate agents in Kettering are open relatively late and most work Sundays, they were not very helpful. So too get straight to the point we put an offer on the house on a Wednesday evening and it was accepted. Connells all of sudden kept ringing me constantly leaving voice messages, at one point I had 10 voicemails (with my job its not safe to carry my phone).This was on the Thursday. They told me that we cannot purchase the house without meeting their mortgage advisor to discuss finances. Fair enough I thought. I made an appointment with them 1 day after the house offer was accepted (friday). That day me and my partner had to take unpaid leave, because they were not flexible in meeting us. Also, fair enough, they might be busy. We rushed to the Connells estate agents and got there 10 minutes before our appointment. As first time buyers this was the first mortgage meeting we had ever had, and we explained to them that we had never done anything like this before . Throughout the meeting 'Rachel' who was the mortgage advisor though friendly and nice.....just seemed to rush everything and poorly explained the subjects of costs and other mortgage related items. Me and my fiancee are not complete idiots, we had done plenty of research and calculations of costs such as stamp duty, solicitor fee's e.t.c. We had bought all information such payslips, work contracts, bank slips everything we needed. All of sudden Rachel's attitude change because we were thought their mortgage deal was quite terrible and we got a little tired of her trying to sell us insurances and wills we did not need. All in all costs were equating far too high. It seemed she was trying to rip us off big time. We explained to her that we were going to look elsewhere for our mortgage because we could get a better deal. (in the end the deal we got was so much better than the one they offered us). All of sudden 'Russell' who is the manager in there jumped on us and told us that they were unwilling to sell us the house and they would put it back on the market if we did not take their mortgage offer and use their 'trusted' solicitors. I have never felt so threatened in a business meeting like this before.
I refused to be threatend and spoke to like that. Why were they in such as rush to sell the house? We put the offer in and one day later we were having the meeting. I was shocked and took back, im not the sort of guy to stand there and take this sort of threat. I then told them not to bother, i will not be threatend and held to ransom from these people becuase I would not take their deal. I demanded to have all my information shredded right there and then and I told them we are pulling our offer on the house. We left the shop and my fiancee just burst into tears, right in the middle of street becuase they were that horrible to us. We loved the house so we were gutted it came to this. All of sudden the meeting started friendly and becuase we were not easy marks, the meeting turned hostile. I have contacted the seller of the hosue, (i know someone who knows them) and told them why we pulled out and what Connells were like.
Connells of kettering are the worst estate agents I have come into contact with. And I urge anyone who is looking to buy or sell from them too avoid them. Its estate agents like these who give the proffession a bad name After my experience i did hear stories from work colleagues that echoed experiences I had. Thanks for reading my review, i just wanted to share my story and give a warning to you all about this estate agent!

I cannot emphasise enough how absolutley disgustingly we have been treated by this "company". We are now seeking compensation through the courts and are expected to win hands down. We have been subjected to - Lies, bullying, extortion, and just about anything else you can imagine.
We moved into a large house (our rent is just shy of £1000pcm) and we only had a rushed first visit due to the existing tenants being unaware we were coming. We repeatedly asked for a 2nd viewing, denied. The excuse was that the exiting tenants were uncontactable. To cut a very long, and sad story short - We turned up on our "Move in date" (having been given three dates!) to collect keys to be hit with another £100 fee to pay otherwise "we couldn't move in to our house" .. despite our whole entire house in a removal lorry and our 4 children waiting outside. We were then told that the landlord insisted we sign an insurance document for contents insurance despite us telling the manager we already had insurance.. we were told we had to sign it otherwise the landlords wouldn't allow us to live in the property. We signed it. We then arrived at the house to be told we couldnt take anything into the house until the Inventory guy had finished- Two hours later. When we entered the property the smell hit us at first - Mould and damp. The main bathroom was riddled with Mould and so was the ensuite. We hadn't been able to see this on our first visit as a baby had been asleep upstairs so we were only able to view the size of the rooms, not actually inspect them! The whole house was filthy, there were lights held on by selotape, No working toilets!! No working showers and so many other things. We immediately contacted Connells who sent a guy out (looked no older than 14!) to make a list of the issues. This was on a Thursday. We had to sleep on the lounge floor on the Thursday night - Myself, partner and a 1yr old and 2 yr old due to the horrendous smell of mould coming from the ensuite bathroom. I would not allow my children to breathe that in. SO on the Friday we then contacted Connells again, To be told the maintenance guy was on paternity leave and we'd need to wait for him to return. Everybody refused to come out (the branch manager, the area manager, maintenance company) and actually see what we were talking about. In the inventory it also clearly stated that Mould was in the bathrooms. We begged, pleaded for something to be done. We again spent the next night on the floor in the lounge. We still coouldn't shower, nor use the toilets. We then had no heating on the saturday morning ... My partner sat in the branch office for 5 HOURS begging for the landlord to be called so that we could at our own cost replace a toilet so we could use a toilet.... Also for the heating to be fixed... they sent a plumber out .. after two hours to only inform us that British Gas are under contract - Eventually at 5.30 pm a BG engineer came out to fix the heating. The branch agreed to contact the landlady at 3pm (ish) who gave consent immediately for us to replace a toilet. We then replaced a toilet and painted and decorated the whole ensuite bathroom in a night so that we could then sleep in our bedroom. The shower wasn't fixed for a WHOLE WEEK after we had moved in and the attitude was absolutely disgusting from the branch. So many lies were/have and are still being told. We have over 200 photos of the property taken just on our move in date. They have blamed our landlords, blamed us, and just about made every excuse under the sun ... No apology, No reasons.. So the court it is and then the papers! There is so much more to this story but I hope to god this is enough to put anyone off.... Use at your own peril, I promise you that you will not be satisfied at all. Connells in my opinion across the board have a bad name, I wish I had read this review site before using them. I cannot find a review site full of praise for them at all. Please ..... Make sure that yu ask for EVERYTHING to be emailed, take anything they say with a pinch of salt, and NEVER trust them!!
