Don't bother with Chestertons, lettings Islington branch at least. On their website they state "Build lasting relationships with every customer." well good luck with that as they've burn this relationship. Disappointing really as they were a good outfit and helped me to find tenants previously, but very poor service this time. Engaged them as sole agency, tenant finding service a short . No updates as to viewings or timelines. Left messages and emailed Ryan, associate lister at their Islington branch, not replied to and then a month later due to misunderstanding on their part was informed that they would be delisting the property from their so called service, to which I thanked them as it saved me the trouble of requesting this directly myself due to the poor service. Listed with Foxtons instead and have had a much better service and experience, you do get what you pay ! Chestertons claim on their web site "...we will deliver an unparalleled level of service to clients, customers..."; they didn't deliver at all this time and there was a zero star rating option I would have given that. Anyway save your time, this from real experience.

I have been letting my flat through Chestertons' Islington branch, where I am the landlord. Unfortunately, I've encountered three instances of unprofessional conduct from agents over the phone. I specifically requested a short-term let, but the property, located near Canonbury, was advertised as a three-year long-term let without prior consultation. Additionally, one agent, Shan, was quite rude when I called to clarify the delay in receiving rental income, which would only begin five months later due to an upfront payment on the three-year term—another detail that was not communicated to me in advance. I am currently exploring alternative options.

I found a short term house for my client via Chestertons -Hyde Park- by Mark and Stephanie.
All was great at the beginning till the agreement. The customer paid the invoice amount and sent them the proof of payment.
Since the customer made an international payment from another country, it would took a few days for them to receive the invoice amount (rent and deposit). So they told it doesn’t secure yet for them and I made a prepayment £1000 since they said they will send that amount just after they receive the customer's payment. I trusted them since they look a big company in the sector. They received the payment but they said they will send my money after check in date (31.07.2021). I trusted them again. From the checkin date till today (09.08.2021, 10 days passed), they are in contact with account department but no result! This morning I contacted with Stephanie, and she said that the invoice amount calculated wrong by a mistake (about £500), so now they can’t send my payment back yet!
My contract with client is already over and I shouldnt spent my extra hours now to solve their mistakes with the tenants and plus they put an embargo on my money??? after they confirmed they are paying today, tomorrow etc each time I contacted with them.
Still waiting for the payment. And stuck in a bad position for ten days now because of trusted their clarification. And they put me in a worse situation instead of finding a solution with the tenant themselves and not paying still!!!

Truly the worst real estate I have ever dealt with. The property managers are useless. They don't even convey messages onto the landlords so you have to constantly follow up.
When you follow up they want you to add your issues to their portal that looks like it was built in 1998. Then when you do that they still do not reply so you have to follow up anyway!!!
They take quite literally 5+ Days to reply to 1 email, they are so inefficient I am convinced there is 1 monkey there doing all the work working out what to use a banana or a keyboard

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
We have had the unfortunate experience of renting a property from Chesterton’s in Fulham for 3 years. The rental price was £9,000 per month and the entire service from start to finish has been nothing short of shambolic especially considering the premium nature of this property.
The entire experience was a disaster from start to finish.
Start of term:
The property was left in a filthy and disgusting condition. The oven had leftover burnt food still in it and was caked in grease, there was a drawer of children’s clothing left in the bedroom, stains all over the walls etc…
During renting term:
Every time we reported a fault, they would send the cheapest tradesman, unsurprisingly they often were unable to fix the problem, example a plumber turned up without any tools to fix a leaky toilet…
Ending of contract:
As part of the check in and check out process we had to pay for an independent surveyor to complete an inventory report. However Chesterton’s tried to ignore the report and attempted to charge for damages which were already present and detailed on the independent report. I sent them a long detailed email explaining each page of the report as supporting evidence against their claim. They did not even bother to read this email and continued arguing without reading the check out report for another 2 weeks.
Finally 5 weeks after the contract ended the deposit amount was agreed. We then completed the Chesterton’s form with all bank details….. they have now sent the £16,000 deposit to a completely different bank account to the one we provided and refuse to investigate where the missing money is. Colette O'Sullivan then gets extremely aggressive and rude when on the phone saying that there is nothing she can do and she will now “hang up the phone” …. Extremely professional!!
Throughout the entire experience there has never been an apology, I suspect this is a defence tactic in order to avoid legal claims!!
The employees involved in this experience which you should avoid at all costs are: Gary Noone, Aisha Ahmed and Colette O'Sullivan. Although having dealt with Chesterton’s for 3 years I am yet to come across a single competent employee.
Expect the worst service of your life! Honestly I am shocked by their arrogant, aggressive, rude and completely incompetent staff. They all read from a pre- set script and you can expect to hear phrases such as:
“ let me tell you how this works”, - In relation to them trying to teach me about the inner workings of the legal system, despite the fact that they have barely a GCSE between them.
“we are going around in circles” – when you have a strong case for action to be taken and they refuse to accept any responsibility or provide any solution.
“ I am trying to help you” – used with an attitude in an aggressive manner as if they are doing me some great favour by finally answering my 15th phone call without any response.
“ you have emailed me 3 times” said again in an aggressive manner, yes because unfortunately you do not reply to my emails!
Phrases you will never hear:
“ I am sorry “
Save yourself a lot of money, time and effort and avoid Chesterton’s at all cost!!

Pathetic! Very sad to think that such a reputable business doesn't train the agents on decent behaviour or allow this to be part of normal practices.

I viewed a property for sale after seeing it on Rightmove. The agent I viewed the property with was called Guy, from Chestertons Islington.
When we met he was courteous, answered questions about the property, and was polite. The property was not suitable for me. He then asked if I wanted to see another property 5 minutes walk away. It was listed as £100k above our price range, but I agreed to go because it looked lovely, but said it is way out of my price range.
On arrival to the second property, Guy unlocked the door and went straight in. We were standing in the living room talking before realising the homeowner was at home, having lunch in the kitchen, and not expecting us at all, having assumed a viewing booked for earlier in the day was cancelled. This was embarrassing for all of us. We inconvenienced the property owner, the agent was not upfront with the owner or me. The agent basically twisted my arm into seeing the second property to try and cover up to the vendor that his viewing had cancelled.

I had an excellent experience with Chesterton Islington, namely Simon! I was abroad looking for rentals, and he was INCREDIBLY helpful, communicative, thorough, thoughtful and transparent. He very much looked after my search, checked in regularly, made sure I was made incredibly aware of all nuances of UK housing (I'm coming from the states), and vetted property on my behalf, making sure that the time we spent viewing was actually well spent. He was available at all times to answer my questions and put me at ease in the rental process. I will be using them for my next search, and recommend them to anyone looking for a hassle-free experience (I'd go as far to say completely enjoyable!)

If only I could put zero stars. The Management Department at Chestertons is simply woeful. There is no commitment to the block they manage, poor communication (if any) and leave residents with no hot water or heat. Massive service charges are that are in the main unsubstantiated and operate divide and rule - allowing residents to believe that they are the only ones with an issue. They take no responsibility for the issues even when clearly their fault. Unprofessional on all counts/
