There to liaise with potential tenants yet so reluctant, to provide even the most basic details, regarding a rental property.
Vague, rude, unhelpful, disinterested. Pretty much sums the encounter with this dreadful person.
Unfortunately a weak apology from Debra didn't suffice, best to avoid and seek out a professional agent instead.

I'm really embarrassed to be writing this after hearing such good reviews about the agents.
I went to view a really nice property yesterday put on the market by these guys - as far I'm aware regardless of COVID-19 and limited viewings this was lifted at the end of March 2020 so pretty redudant now. I understand that from my rental experience the more viewings, the better. So why should an estate agent decline a second viewing - only means it's a serious pipeline for a potential tenant. Additionally, "only if I put in an offer" will I get to make a second viewing. I have been in conversation with someone called Laura, Charlie, Deborah, then Emma, to god knows who else from the * (apologies but that's how they came across when I spoke to them...) to request a viewing only to be refused because I wouldn't give information (about what? you did the basic screening so what gives?) and that I spent enough time measuring up a property in the first one - (if you'd put a floor plan on the advert in the beginning then I probably wouldn't have spent a good chunk wasting your employee's valuable time, and most importantly, mine calling up the next day again) and this is "what their position was-" - I kid you not the exact words quote on quote - my only response I'm sorry que? and I'm really sorry, I have to hang up because this is really embarrassing for me to listen to you speaking to me like that - ***a complete stranger may I add*** cannot stress this enough over the telephone whom I have never spoken to personally in my life... it is v different if I have known you for years...
Unprofessional, out-of-line and completely ludicrous. Wasn't it just clean, simple and straightforward to ring ring can I book a viewing? Sure, here you go. Can I book a second viewing? Sure. I'll make an offer, here is the paperwork, let's get going. Definitely would not recommend.

As a landlord I would strongly recommend avoiding this company. They are inept. They conduct shoddy property repairs, which are expensive and often have to be performed repeatedly. By paying them fees you are getting zero service in return and you would undoubtedly be better off finding someone else to rent your property.

BRL have been managing my flat in Bristol for many years. I have been overseas for several of these and it was always very reassuring to know that they were there looking after my flat, which of course is a big investment, and my tenants.
For me making sure that the tenants are happy is a priority and in 20 years I have only had about 6 tenants, which I think is testament to how well they manage the property. Amy has always been very helpful, reliable and efficient, which is what you want if you're not in the country. It is great to know that any problems the tenants have will be dealt with in a timely manner and sorted asap. Amy has been really good at providing reports on the inspections, getting quotes for any work which needs doing and getting it carried out and providing advice on any redecoration between tenants and anything which will make the flat a nicer place for someone to live.

Having rented in Bristol for 6 years I can honestly say this was one of the most useless agencies I ever experienced.
Sent us the wrong tenancy information before we moved in (very worrying as we then saw someone else's private information!) When we moved in the flat was dirty and they didn't have the right amount of keys so we had to get our own cut. We never had the same person dealing with our enquiries so we always had to explain with whatever query we had and nobody ever seemed to know what was happening.
We received wrong information about the permits and parking situation from them because they were obviously just guessing instead of actually looking for the correct information.
THEN when we moved out they would come over to show the flat without notifying anyone , they didn't have keys to enter the flat which resulted in the flat being left unsecured so they could access or receiving phone calls to let them in. It took nearly 6 weeks for us to get our deposit back and then after we had moved out we were receiving phone calls to say they were viewing the flat when it was quite clearly empty.
Honestly I would steer clear if you have a choice.

very outrageous. £36 when leaving for them to come in with a piece of paper and write down everything that is wrong with the place. And huge agency fees at the start of the tenancy. and when renewing the tenancy its an extra £30.

When we moved in we did a thorough inventory check, and now that we have moved out they are holding this against us and saying that we had broken something when we hadn't and that because we were so thorough with the inventory it was unlikely that we would have missed it. They took pictures of every single little scratch on the floor and every small limescale in the bathroom even though we scrubbed everything when we left. and they are still taking money out of our deposit.
NOTE!!!! take pictures of everything when you move in!!! And write down EVERY single little thing out of order, even the smallest scratch! otherwise like they said if the window was cracked and it wasn't mentioned on the inventory then you will have to pay for it when you move out. Also once they have deducted the compensation from the deposit they are not planning to replace the broken object (they said so themselves) they said it was just a compensation for when the landlord does decide to replace it. So that way they can get more money out of the next tenant. Its all very dodgy.
BEWARE! i do not advice to rent through them.

This company have a high level of commitment and professionalism to support us as landladies. They made the managing of the whole renting process a seamless experience for us; we were consulted on all issues and problems and then these were sorted/solved. We do not now live in the area so the support we got was so helpful and removed any of the stress factors. We have now sold the property so sadly will not be working with them in the future.

Amy Sheppard is responsible for the daily administration and management on our behalf in all dealings with the tenant in our flat. In addition, she oversees and advises us efficiently and promptly of any and all necessary maintenance work or other details that she considers require our attention, as we are landlords living overseas, and we are always fully consulted when necessary. We have always been impressed by her skills in any task, by her judgement, and her professionalism. We have been grateful to take her advice.
Staff member 2: Ed Osborn, the owner of this company, along with his wife, Emma, who also works in it, principally on the accounts side which she does very efficiently and very helpfully, producing statements that are clear and helpful to the landlord. Our dealings with Ed Osborn have always been entirely satisfactory, he was the first person we met when we were recommended by a former tenant of our flat to join this company after we had been with another for some 18 years, and we were immediately delighted by the generous terms we were offered by way of management fee. Only occasionally have we had cause to deal with him directly, but he has always been available when required at short notice to offer assistance and/or advice.
Review
We have now been clients of this company for more than five years, and have never had anything to complain about, despite the added difficulties first of our being overseas, and secondly, the fact that in most years, we have chosen to let the flat for 6 to 9 months, and to occupy the flat ourselves for some of the remaining (normally 3) months. This, I imagine, has added to the company's work on our behalf.
We would recommend the company both to other potential landlords and indeed to tenants,

We found Danny to be very knowledgeable and helpful in pointing out what we needed to do in order to let a property.
Hugo was very efficient in organising the electricity and gas inspections and also the EPC.
We needed to do everything to a very tight timescale and both Danny and Hugo helped to make this all happen in the time we had.
They were both available to advise either by phone on in person and the other staff in the office in Clifton were also helpful and friendly.
All in all, an excellent, efficient and approachable service. Thank you.

<p><strong><u>Clifton Office Complaints Procedure</u></strong></p><p>The Bristol Residential Letting Co is committed to providing an excellent service to our customers however we accept that unfortunately sometimes we do not always get it right. Should a situation arise where you are not satisfied we would welcome the opportunity to address this and would ask you to follow the complaints procedure below.</p><p>1. Make the problem known to a member of our team as soon as possible and allow them the opportunity to resolve it.</p><p>2. Should this not bring a resolution please write to Deborah Hadley, Director, The Bristol Residential Letting Co, 19 Clifton Down Shopping Centre, Whiteladies Rd, Bristol BS8 2NN The grievance will be acknowledged within 3 working days and then investigated in accordance with in-house procedures. A formal written outcome of the complaint will be sent to you within 21 days. Should we require a longer period whilst we gather the facts, we will advise you in writing and confirm our revised response date.</p><p>3. Should you remain dissatisfied please contact Ed Osborn, Director, The Bristol Residential Letting Co, 19 Clifton Down Shopping Centre, Whiteladies Road, Bristol BS8 2NN or e-mail ed@bristolreslet.com who will ensure the grievance is investigated by a Director not directly involved with the grievance.</p><p>4.
