We really struggled to get a potential sale off the ground. We were railroaded into some 3rd party digital ID process which we felt really uncomfortable with, we finally managed to opt out of it. We were then given misleading information on the whole Money Laundering HMRC and ID Verification rules. To the point were I went direct to HMRC read the 'rules' and sent them back to romans for them to reacquaint themselves. By this time the relationship had soured and we'd lost confidence in their ability.

Very disappointed and feeling scammed after my experience with this agency!
I made an offer for a property, they assured of a smooth process if using their mortgage advisor and solicitors, promising a faster process and a refund if the sale fell through due to the seller's fault. Despite paying all requested fees promptly, including additional charges for legal searches, after three months of delays, I was told the purchase required full cash due to missing certifications.
Frustratingly, I later learned from other estate agents that the certification issue was known to everyone and disclosed upfront to other potential buyers. When I requested a refund, both the estate agency and solicitor refused, citing penalties for not completing the purchase—something entirely out of my control. The agency's communication was appalling, with one agent hanging up on me and another being rude and unhelpful.
This ordeal cost me over £thousands and three months of stress and anxiety, severely impacting my mental health and disrupting plans with my partner. Despite promises of a smooth and quick sale, I was left feeling scammed and cheated. The agency's behavior raises concerns about their professionalism and honesty. I am deeply disappointed and expect a full refund or, at the very least, an acknowledgment and apology for the distress caused.
After working with them I started to receive scam calls too!
Disappointing is at least I can say to describe the disgust I feel for this agency!

I would like to say Nicola Moyles in the Basingstoke office specifically has been fantastic and has been an amazing help all the way through this process! Trying to find a property to rent at the moment, especially with a dog has been a challenge and moody estate agents have been a nightmare, but Nicola has been so lovely and warming and it’s been a wonderful experience.

We started our selling process with Romans a year and half back i. e in early 2020, corona was catching up fadt and market was slowing down a bit, Romans came in with a positive selling mind set, they were confident that they would get the sale through, we attempted many times and even pulled out of the market several times, finally Ben Plowmen one of the manager clinched the deal in spring 2021, he delivered what he promised to us in action, I think thw whole sales team need to be congratulated for their hard work and determination to find a buyer. Well done Mr Ben snd team. I will defnitely recommend there service for selling in RG21 area in Basingstoke.

We contacted Romans, and they came to value our house the same day. We have received professional, courteous, knowledgeable and helpful service from the very start. We have emailed and called asking for this to be rectified and surprise surprise they are ignoring us. Atrocious- so avoid at all costs

We looked at a few agents for selling our house but Romans came out the best for value and outstanding customer service. The Basingstoke office is well resourced and managed. Matt Hobbs drove the sale forward with a campaign of viewings in the first few days and we sold our house within a week. Matt also took the time to understand what we wanted to buy and managed to find us our dream house which he negotiated and we had our offer accepted in the same week. I am very impressed by how knowledgeable and proactive the sales team are and l would highly recommend Romans to anyone looking for a sleek, professional, and stress free service.

Romans is a large organisation and every time I contacted them someone different picked up the enquiry and this lack of continuity was very disconcerting until Fran answered the phone. Having explained the issue she volunteered to be my single point of contact and thereafter life as a landlord became much easier. Fran was not just helpful and informative but used her not inconsiderable diplomatic skills to deal with a difficult tenant and it is staff like this which make any agency easier and a pleasure to deal with. Over time we developed an excellent working relationship and it was with some regret I chose to move to another agent due to compelling financial reasons.

This is the worst estate agent I have ever had the displeasure of working with. We lived in the house for just 8 months.. Paid £1800 deposit and kept the house in great condition. We even paid £250 for a professional cleaner. In the end, they got their inventory person to write the most ridiculous things I have ever seen in my life.. Like Dust inside the radiator.. In the end they took £500 from my deposit. These are the sort of companies that give estate agents bad names.. We are a working family with two children and another on the way. I didn't even bother even disputing it because it really makes wonder what kind of human beings are working in such a place.. No integrity, completely dishonest, and just the worst morals and values that any self respecting company can have. I believe that what goes around comes around.. So even though they think they have somewhat got one up us by stealing our money and lying... They will pay that money back somehow in customer or job losses. I just didn't want to degrade myself too much by having to continue to converse with 21St century con-men!

By the way, word of advise.. Video record all your dealings and conversations with this agent. We did and that was our proof and rescue from some of their other lies.. Otherwise we would have also had to pay another £1200 in extra rent.
