Ascend was founded on the belief that estate agents could do a lot better. We\'d been working in the industry for a long time and were frustrated that most agencies were just so ordinary. Like their houses, these places were in ne
ed of a new lick of paint. Bit of rising damp in the basement too.
So we decided to build our own home. This new home wasn\'t made of sticks or straw. It was founded on a deep-rooted, decade-long knowledge of Manchester, from the very bricks and mortar of the city centre to its outer reaches.
By a team of savvy individuals who loved the city and loved helping people invest, move and live in it. A team of quick thinkers and good listeners who did that rare thing: treat customers like people instead of transactions. Because they knew great service wasn\'t just about experience and expertise.
We had one philosophy: to keep the promises we made. Then we opened the doors.

I can only assume "Built on Higher Standards" applies to how they treat landlords and their own profit margins because it certainly doesn't apply to how they treat tenants. Customer service is horrific, getting them to reply at all is difficult, while getting them to acknowledge any of their mistakes such as attempting to deduct from the deposit things that were never present at the property was almost impossible. It took 2 months despite proof from day one. The bar they have for themselves is unbelievably low, I had a sofa in a furnished rented property that had upholstery flaking from day one and metal springs coming up through the cushions which threw you off but they did nothing, this is what they deem acceptable. Clearly it was not usable, they confirmed this themselves in the checkout report but still don't acknowledge they made a mistake by not replacing it, they even claimed I didn't tell them it got worse despite me informing my property manager that it had, he never responded... They said the landlord refused to replace it but he says he never knew about the issue! It shouldn't matter, either way it wasn't usable and they should have stepped in. They need to hold themselves to the same standards they hold tenants.

You requested for a replacement sofa stating it was uncomfortable in early 2020. This request was declined by the landlord. You made no further comment or request regarding the sofa during your tenancy. No deduction to your deposit was proposed in relation to the sofa, this was worn when you moved in and you used during your tenancy. We wouldn’t charge you for wear and tear. Deductions were only proposed for cleaning, damages and bulbs, which you have agreed to, and your deposit return has now been processed. I hope you have settled into your new home. 22 Aug 2022Dear Bethany, the lies I had to tear down from Ascend over the last 2 months have been ridiculous and for you to be so bold to leave this comment is hilarious, I can only assume you weren't fully aware of the situation. Ascend have attempted to minimise my initial comments on the sofa and lie saying I never informed them it got worse, I did. I accepted the deposit return after Ascend finally admitted to some of their lies and mistakes and reduced the deductions. I only accepted at this stage because I saw no way of receiving a fair amount, based on their embarrassing manipulative behaviour. Only 20% of the contents of my emails were answered up until last week were a senior employee got involved to finally clean up Ascend's mess. And even she failed to respond to all my points, ignoring how Ascend made offers of reducing the deductions without the permission of the landlord who was furious with them. Ascend have acted disgracefully and continue to do so by how they lie in their response to reviews, not only on this platform. Nothing I stated in the review was incorrect, thanks for confirming how low Ascend's bar is for their tenants.
