Martin and Co are by far the worst estate agents I have ever come across. As a student, I move flat almost every year so have dealt with many estate agents. Martin and Co are IMPOSSIBLE to reach by phone and don't respond to emails for up to a matter of weeks. When we had problems with the flat, we were expected to fix it ourselves- absolutely no help was given to us from the estate agents. When our hot water stopped working, it took A MONTH before they would send anyone to fix it... absolutely insane... At the end of our tenancy, we were to be charged £400 for a new door as it was "marked" and £300 for a new mattress as it was "stained" despite having provided photos of the staining when we moved in, and further charged for a new bed frame as it was "broken" which they could provide no evidence of. Further, we were expected to pay £250 in cleaning fees even though the flat was domestically cleaned to an extremely high standard. These charges were absolutely outrageous and I understandably asked for their dispute resolution procedure. As soon as I threatened dispute resolution, all charges were dropped except for a £15 charge for a mark on a window. If I had the time, money and energy, I absolutely would have taken them to court. To think they can scam people like this is absolutely outrageous, not to mention staff are rude, abrupt and entirely useless and unhelpful
