Shambles. Everything I read about housesimple is how brilliant they are, but let me tell you from a buyers perspective it couldn't have been any different. Booking a viewing was easy and hassle free. But then once we wanted to put a bid in that's where it all went pear shaped. After our initial offer wasn't accepted as the seller wanted to honour the other viewings we couldnt argue with that, so the next day we put forward an offer at asking price asking them to take it off the market. However, it took the woman on the phone 5 minutes to find the property! I followed up the call the next morning as I hadn't heard anything and eventually got though to the first woman I had dealt with (who put our first offer forward). I asked about if there was any progress on our offer, and she had absolutely no idea about our increased offer. The offer hadn't even been put forward!! It eventually was put forward and accepted. But then the real fun started. The seller apparently was adament that we use the same soliciting firm as them despite the cost would have been £700 more than our solicitors. We didn't want to use them, and wanted to use our own. Everyone I spoke to at home or work were baffled as to why they would want us to the use the same firm. Then we realised the commision that housesimple get when referring customers to use Premier Property Lawyers. We eventually agreed to use them, but I had asked for a proper quote from them so I could get clarification of what the costs were. We didn't get these over a 5 day period despite getting emails from them each day. So eventually the deal fell through, as we said we want to use our own cheaper and quite frankly more reliant solicitors. The biggest frustration I had with housesimple over this time was communication. It doesn't matter what number you ring, what option you press when it asks for number 1 to 3, I can guarentee you will not get through to who you want to speak to. You just get put through to the next person available. When they ask if you;d like to leave a message, they don't pass these messages on straightaway or they don't get actioned straightaway. Prime example. I rung up on a Tuesday at 11a.m. Asked to speak to the woman I had dealt with for the whole process. Got told they'd pass a message onto her. I got a call back 30 hours later!! I don't believe for one second that the messages I was passing on to the housesimple team were then being relayed to the seller. The whole process was an absolute disgrace. It has really put me off using housesimple again. Or if I do I may request to deal with different people than I did this time. I would give this a 0 out of 5 if I could. I also felt we were being treated like mugs and being exploited due to us being first time buyers.
