In the 8 years renting in London it was good to finally deal with a premiership standard agency after previously dealing with division one Foxtons and conference league Hunters. Aside from being competent in doing what they do, what sets Martin & Wright apart from other agencies is that they seem to realise that both the landlord and the tenants are clients and customers to them. Having the best interests of both parties can't be easy but M&W seem to do this well. An agent called Chloe was the one to show us around prospective apartments. Her style was quite a change to previous experiences in that she didn't really do much talking. Her main role was opening the door and answering questions. This again was refreshing after previously being shown around apartments by an agent at Hunters who quite frankly kept talking til all the oxygen was consumed in the apartment. After seeing a small handful of apartment Chloe helped to negotiate a good rent on the chosen apartment. She also helped communicate requests for changes to the security of the apartment before the contract was signed. It can sometimes be wise to wait until the end of a tenancy to form a true opinion of an agency. In past experience when the days approach where you will no longer be a customer the fox claws come out. Well this was not the case with Martin & Wright. We were treated as customers until the very end. Leading up to the end of the tenancy, agent Jay was also very helpful in putting me in touch with a man with a van who assisted with the removal of extra furniture. All email correspondence was replied to quickly. On check out day a distractingly handsome agent dropped by to inspect the apartment after the professional clean we had arranged. Unfortunately they had not done a good job, but with our best interests in mind the agent pointed out the areas that needed cleaning again and gave us a chance to get the professional cleaners to come back and fix their sloppy work. The cleaners actually came back after our tenancy had finished and with the guidance of the agent (who turned out to be a gentleman named Jay) managed to clean again to the landlords satisfactions, thus avoiding any deductions from our deposit. 14 days after the end of the tenancy the deposit was processed, no battles needed or as in a past experience no need to send a billion emails to ask what is going on with the deposit. Overall our experience with Martin & Wright was a very positive one. They know their market and they know their client base. I'm sure their approach isn't a one- size -fits -all, but the style and approach we received was much appreciated. Would definitely recommend M&W to others for an efficient, stress free letting experience.

Fees are seemingly in line with the rest of this market. Whilst expensive, unfortunately this is somewhat unavoidable.
Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
