I recently travelled down to Norwich with my girlfriend who was looking to move into a flat ahead of her new Masters degree at UEA. She specifically stated that she was a student to the advisor on the phone, who then arranged a viewing for several apartments.

We travelled down to Norwich for two days, staying overnight, in order that we could view these flats. She again stated to the agent showing us the flats that she was a student, and the agent said that another PG student was living in one of the flats managed by the estate agency.

When my girlfriend phoned back to confirm her interest in the (very nice) flat, she was then told that the landlord did not accept student tenants. This was an outrageously late time at which to mention this fact, considering she had told them on at least two occasions that she was, indeed, a student.

Not only did the agency neglect to properly inform us of the situation, they have repeatedly promised to phone back (after our request for them to ask the landlord directly), and we have heard nothing.

We spent three days of our busy lives heading down to Norwich from Manchester, involving driving for several hours, only to be lied to and then mistreated.

Quite frankly, this estate agency should be ashamed of themselves.
