The lawyers of McEwan Fraser Legal should be struck off by their professional body. Highly unprofessional people, never return correspondence be that via mail, e-mail or telephone. Very dishonest and have not a shred of integrity. Do not expect them to hold their hands up and say sorry if they make a mistake. They will certainly not make any attempts to correct their mistake, even if given the opportunity. They will just ignore you and hope you give up. I purchased a house in 2011 and the sellers agents were McEwan Fraser Legal. All appeared to run smoothly at first. However a few days prior to the completion date my own solicitor contacted me worried that he had still not received a copy of the title deeds to check them over. After pushing McEwan Fraser my solicitor finally got the copy and there were several inhibitions (debts secured/tied on the property) relating to the sellers, meaning that the house was in fact unmarketable. The inhibitions (debts secured on the house) could only be removed if the debts were paid off from the equity from the sale. So after a couple of weeks AFTER the original completion date we got word from our solicitors that the inhibitions would be removed following completion and that the sellers solicitors (McEwan Fraser Legal) would guarantee that we would have a clean title deed to the property. We moved in...perfect. Then 6 months later we got a letter from our own solicitor advising us that our new title deed to the property had 2 inhibitions still present! Meaning that our house could not be sold without ME paying off the previous owners house AND after we had been given written assurance by McEwan Fraser Legal that all inhibitions would be paid! The first inhibition was served to the previous owner in 2010 and was apparently missed by McEwan Fraser Legal's searchers. A LOT of letters and phone calls have been made, NONE ever responded to and this inhibition is still not resolved (Its now 2014, three years later!) The second inhibition was served to the previous owner AFTER the completion date and AFTER the contract was binding. This has now been removed from the deeds, but through the work of my solicitor, NOT McEwan Fraser Legal (Again they NEVER return any correspondence). This inhibition strangely was the previous owners Father Suing his Son! So, definitely do not sell your home through McEwam Fraser Legal, but equally do not consider buying a home offered by McEwan Fraser Legal. They cut corners with their searches and bury their heads in the sand when something goes wrong. I am at present currently making a complaint to the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission and the Law Society for negligence and inadequate professional service. But honestly all I wanted was to own my new home without any impediments. McEwan Fraser Legal have failed miserably.

30 Apr 2014I'm going through a similar situation with McEwan Fraser , although from a sellers point of view! They were unable to sell my property, via nothing other than lack of interest, bad customer service, poor sales/follow up and dishonesty (We witnessed potential viewers high fiving at our main door). We had to pay up front fees to market our property of approx. £900 and approx. 6 months later we have advised them to withdraw our property to be told we are due them an additional £1000 for NOT SELLING OUR HOME! Even after meeting with their Operations Manager who confirmed we wouldn't be asked to pay any additional fees until they had sold our home and were happy with the level of service. Fool us for believing that gob shite! We are currently in the process of lodging a formal complaint and would be interested in hearing how your complaint is progressing?

28 Sept 2014I am still upset by this awful company. Their practice and conduct was not correct. They told me missives had been concluded and they had not. They should be investigated and I wish I had written to the Law Commissions. I could write at great length about my experience, but I know they will reap what they have sown and I am not alone. Yet they were awarded Estate Agents of the year????
