Every time I heard Foxtons was a nightmare, I didn't realise how bad it could be. But after a few hours into my new flat I already got a sense of what my next year is going to be like. Hell. First of all, the Property Manager, Anett Nemes, never showed up to inspect the flat before I moved in or show me around. The keys (I still don't have a full set of keys by the way, if I need to take the trash out, for example, I have to ask one of the neighbours to let me back in) were left for me to pick up. I was never given the Gas Certificate either. So basically by the first day, 3 or 4 clauses of the contract had already been broken. No pre-tenancy cleaning was ever made, the flat was so dirty it took me 3 days to be able to clean everything and really move in. Contrary to all promises made by letting agent Shannagh Docherty during the viewing, none of the agreed conditions were actually respected (in her own words were 'obvious things to get done before anyone moved in and didn't even need to be mentioned twice'). There were (and still are) several broken things around the flat, and even though it was part of the deal for them to get everything cleaned and fixed before I moved in (they had 5 weeks to do everything), that won't be happening as Anett Nemes doesn't bother answering to emails or picking up her phone. Whenever you try to get in touch with anyone from Foxtons, you always get the same responses: they aren't the office yet, they're in another call and will call you back (they never do), or they're out of the office. So it has been over one month now that I live in a flat where almost everything is broken and I just can't get through anyone from Foxtons. The few times I was able to speak to Anett Nemes, for example, I could clearly see she wasn't even listening to me as she would go quiet on the phone and then reappear again 3 minutes after, repeating the same things she had already said even though that hadn't been what I have just asked her. The lack of respect for the tenants is just indescribable, and it is a shame the landlords don't realise that their properties are being destroyed as well for the lack of proper management from Foxtons. My landlord lives abroad and hasn't been able to come to London in years, and I'm sure once she comes back she's gonna realise the dump-hole her property has become in the past years and how expensive it will be for her to get it back to decent, liveable conditions. Do yourself a favour and NEVER let from Foxtons, especially if they are the ones doing the property's management.

13 Apr 2018John, Your comment is not accurate at all. Just for your own education - a property manager is not responsible for any pre tenancy works - i.e. Cleaning, re-decoration, supplying or removing furniture from property. (They do arrange works if necessarily, but they not discuss it with the property owner.) You discuss the move-in conditions with the Lettings negotiator or branch manager who has to discuss this conditions with the landlord. Then the landlord make a decision and the agent inform the tenant if it has been agreed or not. Also, providing keys is the Lettings negotiator or branch manager responsibility. They have to ensure that the tenant or tenants has the right sets and that they supplied enough coupys to them. ONCE the tenant is moved in, the property manager takes over the tenancy/property management. Also if there is no clause in the tenancy agreement of what you agreed, that means is not been agreed with the landlord and you toke the property as seen on the viewing. This is your own fault and not the property manager fault. You need to understand this facts and change your opinion as you have been very unresenable and rude. Your comment is really disgust me and just shows how uneducated you are really. Hopefully you have learned from your mistakes and next time you ensure that the Lettings negotiator actually does agree your unreasonable requests with the landlord.

18 Mar 2020I disagree with "Unknown" completely, for someone to be so "educated" your grammar and English is awful. Property managers are responsible for the property before the contracts are signed as the landlord pays for our services whether the property is vacant or occupied. Having dealt with Anett myself, she is very unpleasant, she doesn't respond to emails, or calls. John is correct in saying so. I find anett very aggressive in the way her emails come across. I work in property management, the company i work with make sure the property is clean on the move in date, keys are handed out by ourselves on the move in date, and we certainly make sure we give the gas safety certificates to both the Landlords & Tenants. We ensure that any terms and conditions are dealt with, and that the tenants are happy in the property (as any good property management company would). I find that a lot Foxtons staff are very rude and simply not good at their job. it amazes me that such a well established company hire people like Anett who simply do not care about their job, only the money that enters their bank account on a monthly basis.

I had an awful experience with Foxtons. I rented a property with them for nearly 5 years, after being informed that I needed to pay £600 per month by my landlord or else move out. I agreed to move out and the process of the return of my deposit was terrible. I was presented with deductions of... Read Full Review

These people are criminals – plain and simple.
