Awful experience, I would never hire them again. We trusted them with our property for four years and we have been very disappointed. They proved themselves to be unprofessional and, once we came back, pretty rude too. Our flat was left in terrible conditions by our tenants, with missing things (even original doorknobs) and broken things everywhere. We had to pay thousands of pounds in repairing everything but they did nothing to get our deposit back if only for £200 after 8 MONTHS of emails and calls. They even got the dates wrong telling us the tenants were leaving in June instead of July, imagine our surprise when we got back - I still have the email. No inventory was ever done. Avoid IVY property to avoid unnecessary stress, disappointment and a total waste of money and time. I have awarded them a star only because you have to give at least one...

6 May 2017Dear Ilaria, I know you're frustrated by the deposit scheme result, the system is complicated and involves grading wear and tear and doesn't work on a new for old basis. With regards to the rest of your review, sadly many of your comments are inaccurate; -No inventory was ever done -: There was of course an inventory, an inventory is required to operate the deposit scheme. It was the inventory that enabled us to claim your £200 from the scheme. You should have the inventory in your inbox but we will resend it to you. -They even got the dates wrong telling us the tenants were leaving in June instead of July -: In your email dated -06 May 2016 15:51- you requested the flat be vacant from ‘mid July' and you apologise for not having given more notice. We arranged for the tenant to vacate on Friday 8th July rehousing them in another of our managed properties and the inspection took place on the following Monday . -pretty rude too -: We have been nothing but polite with you regardless of how passionate you became at times, we are anything but rude and actually quite charming. -cashing' in on fees- : We charge zero commission on any repairs which is a unique selling point at IVY, only the management fee is payable. You benefitted greatly from this as we had to manage regular repairs and maintenance to your saniflo en suite. Furthermore, when we 1st rented the property, a potential tenant reserved the property and paid a holding fee, they then decided against the flat and walked away forgoing their holding fee. Despite this being out with our control, you were incredibly upset by this and so to appease you we did 4 things; 1. We of course transferred you the holding fee 2. We made a part rent payment/donation from our business account to make up the time/rent lost 3. Waived the set up & marketing fees due 4. And then managed your 2nd flat for over a year free of charge All of the above combined amounts to over £2000 in compensation. I realise this was a long time ago and memories fade. Mistakes do happen but few companies would have compensated you in such a way. Our relationship remained positive until the deposit delay and the sum you received. I apologise for the delay in dealing with the deposit scheme, we were trying to broker you more money but it should not have taken so long and we will endeavour to deal with this aspect far faster in future. I'm sorry that you felt you needed to make the above comments and it's a shame you didn't stick to the facts so that future clients reading these reviews could get a clearer view of our service and how we deal and resolve the challenges that occasionally come with letting out a property. 8 May 2017Iain, this is the first message I have received from you in years. Of course I was passionate about my flat and was kind enough to avoid mentioning the stress you caused us when at first. we got the deposit back but that's expected from any estate agency. Please do not accuse me of not sticking to the facts: I have not seen an inventory despite me asking for one and because lots of things were missing from the flat, not sure if they were broken and disposed of or just taken away. How is it possible that original doorknobs just disappear? No point in sending one now. This is the email I have received after first telling you that we needed the flat back. My husband came back mid June and the flat was still occupied as the tenants were in fact leaving mid July. Hi Ilaria, The tenants will be moving out in mid-June so we could go and measure the kitchen then. Unless you have someone here that you would like to do it? Kind regards, * It was just a mistake, my husband stayed with friends and left our stuff there and I would have not mentioned it if you hadn't pushed me to this. Did you really expect me to say nothing? You have caused me a lot of unnecessary grief, I am sure without realising it but I have the right to comment about it. Clearly we have different opinions on what "rude" or "charming" mean but it doesn't matter. This is not a review on you as people but on how our situation was handled. I enjoyed on the most part dealing with you and your husband and I'm sorry the deposit result has soured relations. I wish you both the very best of luck in the future.
