In late November 2016, I viewed a property in Redhill, Surrey with L* from Knights due to a necessary relocation. My wife and I felt the property was perfect for our needs and explained to L* that there would need to be engagement with a third party company but this did not seem to be a problem. Numerous phone calls and emails later, a deposit was secured against the property and I started to make moving arrangements, however nothing further was forthcoming. Having had no update about 10 days later I contact Knights to find out what was happening. Initially I was told that there was no problem, then that the landlord had yet to agree and then finally we were told that the Landlord had found an alternative tenant. It did not seem quite right so contacted the property direct and were told by the Landlord that Knights had been very poor in communicating and had got fed up with waiting, were not aware of our deposit and so found a private let which had been signed. Knights accepted no responsibility for the situation and at no time expressed any doubt that the property would not be let to us. In general a very poor customer service experience and poor communication

3 Jan 2017All tenancies are agreed subject to contract. Upon pursuit of the landlord they withdrew their property from the market and informed us they had private interest from a friend. We were powerless to do anything other than inform the prospective tenants of the bad news. We will always work to the best of our ability to create tenancies in good faith however, from time to time, landlords may change their plans/mind which is incredibly frustrating and disappointing for us as agents. We dislike this as much as everyone else and we are not at fault for this.

10 Jan 2017Unfortunately this was not the case at all. Both the owners and myself had been constantly chasing the agents for info to no avail. When the agents finally took it upon themselves to tell the owners that we could not move at their requested time without even bothering to check with us first, the owners had already been offered a private let which they accepted because they had given up waiting for any response from Knights having called them numerous times and received no response or updates.. As you can see from their response above they are merely passing the buck once again. Awful agents..I'd advise anyone to steer clear of them and go elsewhere.

11 Aug 2017A formal complaint was made to the Property Ombudsman. After a full investigation that took several months; The complaint was not supported. The Property Ombudsman have sided with Knights Estate Agents and could find no fault with our conduct. We stand by our truthful statement made on 3rd Jan 2017.

11 Aug 2017Not strictly true though is it? They couldn't speak to the owners of the property who were equally as dissatisfied with the service they received from Knights as we were as they called us to tell us themselves! In addition Knights conveniently didn't have a record of several of the phone calls they claimed to have made to us (which we never received) as they were apparently made by mobile and they didn't have records of them!! What a surprise!! Please feel free to make up your own mind about them. I certainly would never use them again nor encourage anyone else to. Appalling company!

2 Oct 2017And I also have a letter from them which states exactly what I have already said in my reviews. The reality is that the service you provided me was absolutely appalling and frankly the worst service I've ever received from an agent. That said I'd have had far more respect for your company had you not lied and contradicted your way out of the shoddy service you provided. A simple apology for the errors you made would have sufficed.
