Jordan Fishwick couldn't do enough for me when I first rented the property and as this was my first experience of renting I was impressed. We paid more than I intended to rent for a few months but I thought it was worth it. We rented for a few months until our house was ready and then when it was time to leave that was when it all fell apart.
Dealing with "the other side" and trying to get your deposit back was a nightmare and has totally put me off anything like this in the future. The initial phone call to ask how the leaving check had gone was met with a curt reply and it went downhill from there with them attempting to charge me for things that 1. didn't exist. 2. were wrong or missing when I moved in. To give you an idea a cobweb at the front door was included in the inventory. IT WAS OUTSIDE!!!!
After waiting weeks for any sort of response I telephoned the office and thankfully came across another lady. She was totally different, helpful and friendly. She sorted it and I had most of my deposit back within days. I will be grateful forever that she picked up the phone that afternoon.
It's a terrible situation to be in...they have your money and you are backed into a corner and stuck. I began to wonder if I would actually get anything back at all. Frankly it was frightening.
The reason I am leaving this report is to warn others not to be as green as I was...check the inventory they send with a fine toothcomb, take more photos if you need, add anything they have missed, check that everything works and then let them know. If you are unhappy with anything at all when you move in then let them know...otherwise it becomes your fault.
Basically don't trust them with your money unless you are 100% happy.
What agent could do to change your mind?
There is nothing you can do to help me change my mind about how I feel. I explained at the start that I am ill and should avoid stress. I was quite frankly very frightened and lost a lot of sleep. Thank goodness for the young lady that got my exasperated call that afternoon and understood and helped me. I feel sure that if she had dealt the whole way through it might have been a different story. I'm so glad it's all over.
