There is a valid reason why we have reviewed this service as terrible and we really do hope it gets published so others can see what level of service or lack of service Ryder and Dutton provide. The early stages of the purchase was fine but as the process started to enter the final stages, this is where the headache, stress and pressure was piled on to us by Ryder and Dutton. We received a call one morning from Ryder and Dutton and their first words were "The completion date is set to 1st Sept, if this doesn't fit the chain will break" (normally you would expect this kind of call from your solicitor). Well that filled us with so much joy and happiness (not). This date didn't work for us and we suggested the 28th Aug, so then Ryder and Dutton started to apply the pressure where necessary and telling us that we needed to be flexible or we will lose the house (trust me we were ready to pull out ourselves). Being towards the bottom of the chain, we later found that the sale of our home had to complete on the 21st Aug which added further complications, however this was also not possible due to the owners (of a Ryder and Dutton property) going on holiday . We felt as if all the pressure and stress was thrown to us to deal with in our own way without any care. We received call after call from Ryder and Dutton to ensure we were being flexible but later found out that 2 properties within the chain were being sold by Ryder and Dutton.
We found it really strange how we were advised to go into other accommodation (with a 19 month old child) in-order for the chain to complete on separate dates. Along with this Ryder and Dutton were not willing to pay for any contributions towards accommodation costs (as we were now going to be homeless for a week or more) nor were they willing to contribute to any storage costs. All extra costs and charges were left for us to deal with along with us being on the streets with a child. But the sellers of our new property were quite comfortable to go on a holiday around the completion time and they didn't have to be flexible (that's what it felt like).
The whole process on our purchase side (involving Ryder and Dutton) has been very stressful and upsetting as it felt like Ryder and Dutton haven't helped to ease the stress or any of the upset we have been through but more that as long as the chain can work they don't care.
From what we have experienced, personally I will be looking out for the Ryder and Dutton board in future and may well be steering clear. Not only have they applied a lot of pressure on us (almost the whole 6 house chain) but they have come across as if they don't care and expect customers to be flexible (even if you have to live in Premier Inn for 3 weeks) so their chain can move forward. I would have expected a lot more care and considerations from Ryder and Dutton. The fact that they couldn't provide any contribution for putting a family out on the street to sort their own accommodation and storage of all their home contents is very very poor in my eyes.
I don't rate Ryder and Dutton highly at all from our experience, so please do all your research before choosing your estate agent. You wont get any support, contributions or care from Ryder and Dutton or at least we didn't.
What agent could do to change your mind?
The Agent could have been much more considerable and caring. We are currently living in a Premier Inn for 10 days with no contributions from Ryder and Dutton. Our contents has gone into a storage container for 10 days with no contributions from Ryder and Dutton. Throughout the process we have been expected to be the only ones being flexible, whilst the rest of the chain remain with their own roofs over their heads. Ryder and Dutton have bent over backwards from the chain above though as they have even gone to extents of asking us to move in on a Saturday regardless of completing on a Friday. We have been pushed to make sacrifice after sacrifice with no care considered at all.
