As a landlord I have found Countrywide completely incompetent. They don't do anything for you and you have to chase them all the time. They only give you quotes from the most expensive contractors (assumption here is that they get a cut also as the prices are ridiculous).... Read Full Review
Comments on Agent Fees
OK fees but pointless paying them when you get nothing in return.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Consider providing a good service instead of raking in as much money as possible.
Organise branches to deal with issues instead of head office.
Have one reliable contact name and number to resolve issues.

Your Move were already selling the house for us. It was empty and after 3 months we were then liable for full council tax. We decided as we live abroad to rent it out instead (full management), and Your Move had twice asked us to rent it as they had many people enquiring. We decided to go with them as it seemed the most simple option. Big mistake. If you study the small print you find they charge for all sorts of things, and also keep £200 in reserve for meeting urgent repair costs. A 3 months inspection (done at 4 months) noted that a slipped roof tile was letting in rain and the bathroom ceiling was very wet. Well spotted except it was not reported to the maintenance department. After 2 weeks we learned of this. The tile was then replaced, and after 2 months it was dry enough to redecorate! The tenants had reported damp and mould at the outset! Our experience with them over the last year or so has been very problematic. We have been trying to find out when they are going to do a final inspection having known for many weeks that the tenants were leaving on 6th May. Messages were left without any response, emails unanswered. Meantime we need to know if our house is still in good condition and for our £200 to be paid to us.

Myself and girlfriend were letting a property through YourMove in Chesterfield. the landlord decided to seel our house and gave us 2 months notice to leave. However we were under a periodic agreement and had been for almost 2 years. We therefore decided to take up another house through Yourmove and told them we would leave the old house a month early, after making a successful application on the new house. Next thing we know, we are being hounded by Yourmove credit department for the last month's rent despite us not even living in the house, or even having keys which had been given back to the branch. The branch hadn't told their head office we had left and they are demanding 1 month's rent even though we have been living in a new house for over a month. On top of this, the house sale by the old landlord has fallen through.
