If it were possible to give less than one star, I would. I cannot begin to describe how disorganised this company is. Me and a few others started the renting process for a student property a few months ago and it was all well and good up until we signed the pre-contract agreement and paid the holding deposit. They told us they would give us a week of free rent in July as the property would be undergoing works but in the contract for the application they did not include this 'free week' of rent in the total price for rent for July and August. They kept hounding us to complete our guarantor's details in several emails even though we already had. Upon asking about our personal guarantors, they told one of us there is nothing we could do, and told me that the only issue they were having with my guarantor is that they did not have his ID (even though it was sent to them before even completing the guarantor form). We shrugged this off since mistakes can happen. One of us could not acquire a guarantor, so she offered to pay a large amount of the rent upfront, and she was told that she had to pay the entire year upfront and the total amount she was given was £800 more than what rent would've actually cost. We emailed to ask for a clear up on both the application form and the total amount of rent she was asked to pay upfront, but was ignored for days. We decided not to rent with them in the end, since they clearly were just trying to scam us out of extra money. Not to mention their extremely pushy and unprofessional manner. We were lucky to get out early. If you're a student, PLEASE STAY AWAY.

Like the review before, Your Move Canterbury also asked myself to review them so I’m more than happy to do so after the absolutely awful service they provided.
There was a complete lack of communication within the company. We reported multiple issues with our rental, the ‘contractors’ they supplied were complete cowboys who showed a total lack of respect to us and the property. (One literally said in front of me ‘nah the landlords won’t pay for that they’re proper tight’ .) Subsequently due to a lack of action on their part our rental house suffered extensive deterioration over time. When we eventually moved out, parts of the house that we’d reported months ago had started to literally fall apart due to snowfall and rain and contractors not actually fixing issues properly.
The incompetence of the team was second to none. I’ve gone into the office before to sign documents and listened as staff have sat around drinking tea together for a ‘staff meeting’ whilst ignoring phones. Contact details of the landlords were shared by Yourmove with us (I’m sure something the landlords didn’t appreciate). Whilst we were in the property we fitted blinds, painted and improved the property. But on our departure, Yourmove attempted to overcharge us for the inspection (discovered because we found the company they used and we called and asked for a separate quote). The fact they tried to overcharge us for that and lied about the cost is frankly astounding.

Your Move Canterbury explicitly asked me to give a review of my experience renting through them, after we were suddenly asked to leave our home of four years by our landlords. So I am kindly obliging them. Your Move Canterbury were the single most ineffectual group of people I think I have ever encountered. They don't communicate properly with each other, let alone their tenants, they sit in one room and can't even transfer a call from one person to another. They hire cowboys to do property maintenance costing landlords thousands of pounds more than they need to pay and causing unnecessary stress to tenants, and even then they don't even do a proper job. We had their repair cowboys crack our tiles, ruin our door frames and all with the utmost fuss. And that's if they even bother to organise repairs. We reported that the flat roof needed repairing two years into our tenancy and when we left two years later it still wasn't fixed and water had begun to come in through the roof into our kitchen cupboards. Fortunately we were already packing up to leave by then. We had always had a good relationship with our landlords, especially ever since Your Move incompetently copied us both in on the same email so we could then contact each other directly. However when the administration of our leaving the property began everything broke down Your Move did absolutely nothing to mediate effectively (and possibly even made things worse) between us and our landlords and we ended up going through arbitration to resolve a dispute about our deposit (which went in our favour). Your Move never even offered to help us find a new property, which I find utterly astounding because surely they'd want to charge us all those inordinate and incomprehensible fees again? They even threatened to charge us rent when we were unable to move out on the agreed date because of torrential snow. When I called to say the van couldn't get to us they genuinely asked me why we couldn't leave the property. âJust look outside!â I fumed. They are incompetent and inconsiderate human beings but the one thing I can say that they're really very good at is ripping off landlords and tenants to line their own pockets. Do not rent through these people, even if the property is perfect. It's not worth it. You must see there's something fishy going on when there's only five star or one star reviews hereâ¦

I am APALLED with the way Your Move have treated myself and my housemates. If I could have rated the service 0 stars I would have. Whilst most tenancy agreements with the company expect rent to be due on the 1st of every third month, we were given our keys late (their choice) so our payment date was the 21st. Without fail, on around the 3rd of every third month we would all be sent an aggressive email accusing us of missing our payment date - you'd think by the end of the 2 years they could have grasped that our payment date was later WHICH WAS THEIR DECISION NOT OURS. When moving back into the house after summer in our second year we realised our boiler didn't work and that we had no heating. We reported this frequently and received no response, meaning that for 3 months we were FREEZING. We finally had a new boiler installed whilst we had all returned home for Christmas - we were charged for the locks being changed as they'd lost the master key to our house and the plumber couldn't get in, we're now also having a deduction from our deposit for a hole the plumber left in our wall. Now, 3 months after moving out of the house, we have still not received our deposit back. Their excuses for this have ranged from leaving behind our furntiture (this is all furniture which was in the house when we first moved in, left from previous tenants), to a drawing pin being left on my housemate's bedroom floor - laughable! I have also been informed that I cannot receive my deposit until I clear outstanding arrears - the amount I 'owe' has changed in every email they've sent me, all of which are fictitious as I have paid my rent on time and in full at every point which it has been due. Their phone manner and emails are aggressive and the vile way in which they talk to students is unacceptable. We have treated poorly because we're students, but we are educated young adults who deserve as much respect as any other tenant. When calling up to clear up their mistakes, the employees would simply blame one another, and have literally told us 'Sarah is awful at her job and is probably going to be fired', or tell you to call accounts, who then ask you to call the original number again. I cannot stress enough that you SHOULD NOT USE THEIR SERVICE.

I've rented many properties all over the world in my lifetime so have a lot of experience to benchmark against as well as being a successful property developer. Took 2 months to get my deposit back and even now not in full or with any written statement detailing deductions- not good enough so wouldn't recommend.

DON'T USE THIS ESTATE AGENTS! They are unhelpful, not sufficient and extremely rude. We are a group of four students who decided to rent a property through them. They sent out letters and forms late, were hardly in the offices and didn't answer any of our questions about why it was taking so long. It took over 4 months and have still got problems with them. If you can avoid it don't use your move, once they have your admin fee they don't care about you!

Absolutely awful. We are a group of students who are unfortunately renting with your move and after signing the papers and paying a �250 admin fee ( costs less than a quarter of this to actually carry out the admin) they changed the price of the rent to which we were very unhappy. We then were told we would be allowed to pay the original rent and then they changed their minds again increasing the price just a few months before we moved in and barely even apologising. The whole company is extremely disorganised and unhelpful and we will not be renewing with them. Definitley not student friendly, had we been more mature adults I'm sure we would not have been treated in such a way.

I was a landlord letting out my static home which is seperate from my main house. The tennant agreed to pay upfront for the full term. i was told by the Canterbury branch I would not need to pay 10% fee. They then rushed me to sign the contract they sent me and charged me the additional 10%. They also changed my gas and electric supplier without my knowledge, when I told them I did not want to change and thet the rented property has no gas supply they said they would cancel it, even this they did not and my tennant began getting bills which he was not expected to pay. When i made a complaint to them they said they would look into it, but weeks have gone by and I have not heard back form them. I STRONGLY URGE ANYONE NOT TO DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY ESPECIALLY THE CANTERBURY BRANCE AS THEY DO NOT TAKE LANDLORDS SERIOUSLY AND MAKE FALSE PROMISES!

Went in to organised a letting valuation on my property. Spent 20 minutes running through everything with the Lettings Manager. 1 week later, I had heard nothing. Phoned and told that they'd phoned the current tenant once and left a message but had not bothered since. 2 weeks later, when I phoned again they said I was not even registered and then accused other members of staff (not management as they said) for not registering me properly. So spent further 15 mins on phone getting registered. 2 and a half weeks later; no news so phoned them again and they said that they could not get hold of the tenant despite the fact I had received persistent text messages informing me of arranged valuation times and yet when I spoke to them I had my head snapped off and was told in no uncertain terms that they did not know what I was talking about, as they did not send texts! I arranged a viewing directly then with the tenant for them. On the day of the arranged viewing at 12.50pm I received a snappy phone call demanding to know if someone was going to be at the property at 5.30pm. I assured them that the tenant would be. They then failed to show. When the tenant contacted them they said the appointment was for 1pm. (The lady had phoned me that day to question the appointment at 5.30pm.) My advice is; do not touch this agent. They have no idea what they are doing. In 20 years of being a landlady, I have never experienced such incompetence.

Absolutely useless agency. AVOID!
