Awful service. We agreed a purchase through them with an initial agreement that the purchase would be chain free. They told us the sellers agreed to move into temporary accommodation and that the process should take approx 2 months. Three months later we have now found out they never clearly communicated this to the sellers and the process is still dragging on. Very poor communication, we've had to chase every step of the way and every time they keep telling us nearly there only 1 more week only...

To whom it may concern, I am writing in thanks to your colleague Jack Sibley, who recently worked with us to find a suitable tenant for my property. First and foremost, Jack was very professional in his manner. Any queries were always acted upon quickly and efficiently. I would be more than happy to recommend William H Brown, once again a big thank you to Jack for all his hard work....

It all started good- 2014 October I was looking for a property in Colchester. I thought to make a change in my life And go away from London. I arranged a property viewing with Rebecca Wheeler(left the company). The property was not what I was looking for, so she showed me another property. It was beautiful, newly decorated. She then started the typical selling pitch that it's not yet live, but she has 1000 viewing arranged. Because I believed her And after 1 hour agreed to take the property. For...

Absolutely APPALLING customer service from this branch. Multiple problems with the place we were renting, problems were not sorted for sometimes up to 2 whole months. Other things were not fully explained to us in contract and information withheld. Cannot believe this branch gets any clients that go with them, steer well clear!!!!!!!!!...

Utterly hopeless. I tried to arrange viewings a week in advance and was told this was not possible and, after having given my details was told to call on the day I wished to view properties- and this would be "absolutely 100% no problem," in the agents own words. Upon calling back (on the day), the member of staff had no recollection of this, and did not have any of my details. No properties were available to view as at least 24 hours notice was required! I was then given details of a ...

I am very disappointed with the service I received from William H Brown in Colchester. I saw an advert for a property listed on a property website and no administration fees were advertised, and so I thought that it would be a good idea to ring up William H Brown lettings and arrange a viewing. It was confirmed that there was no administration fees, however, what was not mentioned was that there was a £120 guarantor fee per tenant and that the minimum that a guarantor must earn is £9...

Continuing to respond to emails and stay attentive even after money has been received.
Comment on agent fees
The ‚£120 is extortionate, and also the terms of a guarantor must be explained to the tenants before they put somebody forward.

What can I say? Great valuer getting you to sign on the dotted line but from there we have been all but abandoned. Lazy marketing and mistakes on website despite prompts. Still waiting for response to a written concern after nearly 2 days. Interestingly we have registered as a potential buyer with 5 Estate Agents locally - all of whom call regularly. William H Brown have not called us once. We have to continually call them. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE....

1) Better marketing. Floor plan was a poor photo copy of one I handed top them myself (despite being told that they do their own). More care on description. I could describe an apple more positively than the bullet point approach used to market my property. 2) Response to complaint letter? It is 48 hrs after sending a letter to the Sales Manager, expressing my disappointment, and I am still waiting for a response... At my office, unless there is an auto \"holiday response\" I would be expected to respond within 24 hrs. 3) We are registered with 5 Estate Agents to view properties, including WHB. We have not had a single call from WHB offering a potentially suitable property. We have had to be proactive in calling them. Other local Estate Agents seem far more proactive.

Worst experience with an estate agent ever - and that is saying something. After the slick marketing pitch, it went rapidly downhill. The main issues are as follows: - I was fed a catalogue of lies from the team in Colchester, who were not at all truthful with me throughout the process - I accepted a low offer on the basis that we would complete the transaction on 19 July. William H Brown never communicated this date to the buyers! - Terry had promised that the buyers\' mortgage applica...

Completely unsuportive of landlords - your property will be managed in Norwich by staff who really don\'t care. As for the local team, once you have paid they will not want to know. Requests for help go ignored. If you are looking for a cheap shabby service then these are your guys. Now have used an agent in Colchester who has moved the image and customer service forward from 1985...

Awful experience - once sale verbally agreed I felt like I no longer existed. Sale has been going on for eight weeks and I have had to do all the chasing. Below I e-mail I wrote to their compliance dept earlier today: Dear Sirs, I am writing to express my total dissatisfaction regarding the service received to date in relation to the sale of my property. The verbal offer was received and accepted on 14 June 2012, at which time I was given an approximate timescale of 6 to 8 weeks and...
