Stags Tiverton office is situated in Bampton Street, one of Tiverton's busiest shopping thoroughfares and is a short distance from Tiverton's redeveloped Pannier Market with ample parking nearby. The Professional Services
department can also be found here, giving expert advice on all planning, estate management and rural business issues, as well as carrying out professional valuations for probate, matrimonial disputes and inheritance tax to name but a few.
Standing between the point where the Rivers Exe and Lowman meet, Tiverton is the largest town in mid Devon and has easy access to the M5 motorway and the A361 North Devon Link Road. A popular dormitory town for commuters to Exeter and Taunton, its fortunes were built on the wool trade, which prospered during the 16th, 17th and 18th Centuries. Knightshayes Court now owned by the National Trust is evidence of such early prosperity. Modern Tiverton has much to offer in the way of leisure activities with a museum, plenty of footpaths along the trackbed of the old railway, the Tivoli cinema, a leisure centre with swimming pool and gym and a country park, which was created from the Grand Western Canal. There is plenty of good shopping, too, with both high street multiples and small independent shops. Primary and secondary schools abound in Tiverton - the most famous of which is Blundell's School.

There has been a large turnover of staff in the Tiverton rentals office, during which there was a huge time of having no Lettings Manager at all due to them being unable to recruit - we were told this by a Stags Lettings Administrator! The new (since March 24) Lettings Manager is Charles, who I am sorry to say is not up to scratch for a role titled Manager. You can clearly see after taking so long to recruit to this position, they have had to settle for someone unqualified for the role. He is cold, inconsiderate and unprofessional. The first time we met, he did not introduce himself he just walked into our home. For a people facing role, he has no social skills and absolutely no knowledge of the properties he is 'managing'. I would have thought once in a new role you'd swat up on the properties you manage?
After we'd given notice at the property, there were 3 viewings booked in. The first was booked for 10am. The prospective tenants arrived a few minutes early - fine in my book, but Charles arrived 3 minutes late. In what business do you arrive late for a meeting? Especially when you are showing someone's home around to prospective clients. The house is max. 5 minute drive from the Stags office, so there really isn't a good excuse for his lateness. Upon being late, Charles made no apology and ignored our presence. The clients had reasonable questions about the house, to which Charles had no answer. They were easy questions like where is the parking space, is it gas boiler etc, which he should absolutely have known the answer to. To some of these questions, he made no attempt to answer saying

Two months ago I went to view a property to rent in Simonsbath on Exmoor. I was shown around a spacious bungalow and decided there and then that I would apply to rent it. I was told that there were two other parties applying and that all of our applications would be sent to the landlord. I didn't hear anything for a week, so I called Stags to enquire as to whether a decision had been made. I was told that the landlord was very apologetic about the delay, and a decision was imminent. Another week went by and again I called, and received more or less the same update. After more time had gone by, I searched on Rightmove/Zoopla/OnTheMarket for a different property. But I found that the bungalow I had applied for at Simonsbath was still being advertised, even though there were three parties had applied and were being considered by the landlord. Not only that, but the photos had also been updated as there were no kitchen appliances in the original photos. A day later I received an e-mail from the Tiverton office of Stags, stating that they were extremely sorry about the delay, but it was basically the landlords fault. I responded to this e-mail, stating that they were actually also to blame, and that they were working with the landlord for alternative applicants, and that their advert had been updated. Needless to say, I have never heard from them since. I have dealt with other letting agents, who have had the manners to keep me updated, and to tell us straight away if our application was unsuccessful, and not been lied to. As far as I know we still have a live application submitted, but two months on we have settled into a nice cottage in South Wales, where the agent told us within two hours that we had been successful applying. So Stags, please take this review as a termination of our application, you are extremely unprofessional, have no compassion towards customers at a stressful time, and are dishonest.

Most recently, a lengthy chain meant a few problems arising, but issues were resolved quickly and we were kept informed and reassured throughout. I felt in expert hands from signing on to completion and wouldn't hesitate to use Stags again in the future. Today we completed on our house which Tiverton Stags helped us to sell. Kirsty has been absolutely fantastic. She has been everything we could have hoped for in an estate agent from start to finish. She was always on the other end of the phone if we needed anything and if she couldn't answer, she would always come back to us promptly. We would get regular updates both via email and phone to fit around us. The support she gave us between offer and exchange was invaluable and definitely got the sale over the line. I received an excellent from both Mike and Kirsty at Stags. Both were reassuring and went out of their way to ensure my purchase went through as quickly as possible.
