I have always been happy managing my rental properties privately until we had to move abroad due to job relocation. I was recommended to SmartMove through a work colleague who had past experiences with them. From the first meeting of Mark and Jessica in the ...

Comment on agent fees
Set up fees were free! Fantastic service so worth the management fee that is charged - found this to be pretty similar across the board.

What agent could do to change your mind?
This is the first property I have owned. Been living here for 5 years. I have been getting slightly concerned about the bad estimates of monthly charges, meaning we get a whacking great bill the month we usually go away. Silly little things like the fire / smoke alarms starting to beep in the halls. We reported a week before it was sorted and this was only because the alarm started going off early hours on a Sunday morning when we had to ring the emergency number to get it dealt with. Had it have been left, it would no doubt have been longer.
Recently, there was an issue with a leaking pipe to the flat below us, causing wet mouldy walls. The water also was covering around 2ft under the stairs under the electric meters. It would of been either our flat or the flat above which was the cause. As we were not sure, we contacted peveral as this seemed to be quite urgent due to the water being near electrics etc to get the best advice. They said that I needed to call the next day as i used the emergency number. They also said that the lady that dealt with our property was away and we would have to wait.. I asked if someone could call me back, as it is something that needs sorting straight away. I called two evenings in a row, and then emailed a lengthy email the following day. This was around 3 weeks ago. I have not heard anything.
You would think that after receiving 2 calls, and an email that they would at least follow it up
Since emailing them, we found that it was the apartment above's responsibility.
I have never known a company who is shockingly bad at dealing with simple requests, as well as ignoring communication and apparently only having one person who knows our development, and due to holiday no-one else could deal with. It is diabolical! An by no means 'managing'. The slap-dash way this company is operating, is probably the cause of the extra expense in our monthly bills.
I will be looking elsewhere to see if another company will offer something better
