** I Only gave one star because I HAD to give a star. In all my years of renting properties, i have never once felt compelled enough to write a review regarding a letting agents. Avoid at ALL costs! Murray & Currie are an absolute disgrace & not fit to let properties! They have no interest in you once you have signed, my partner & I were left without a working fridge or freezer for 3 weeks & their response throughout was tough, just deal with it. This company cost me thousands of pounds - do not use them under any circumstances. To say their service was terrible is an understatement. I am a landlord renting a property in Edinburgh. They increased their percentage take without notification and they didn't manage the property as I was paying them to do - if they had been doing their job it would have been acceptable, but because they didn't it was daylight robbery.

I totally agree with everything you say. Me and my partner are currently disputing for all of the same reasons! I have over ten years of experience with letting and not once have I failed to get my full deposit back. Murry and Curries 'Check-out Report' is a money making exercise and it makes the cleanest of people look dirty. It really is shameful taking advantage of tenants like this.....

I can say with absolute certainty that Alex and the team in Edinburgh helped me to the utmost. I arrived in Edinburgh with a couple of properties to view and was surprised that the majority of Lettings Agents did not work at the weekend. Worst experience with a letting agency. From day one it's been nothing but lies. I booked a viewing, they used the wrong pictures "by accident", which showed a bigger more airy flat. I dismissed that because the man seemed so apologetic about the mix up. Do not deal with this letting agency! Awful experience from start to finish! We first moved in to our property and there had been no checks after the previous tenets had moved out. Very unprofessional! Murray and Currie took over the management of the flat I was renting as this was sold and the new owners decided to give the management to Murray and Currie. My contract was forwarded to them and all details discussed thoroughly with them. They had to give me 24hours notice before entering the property for viewings. After seven years of renting properties in central Edinburgh, this company has to be by far the worst experience I have ever come across. Living abroad we had to trust them to represent us while we were away, they didn\'t!! took potential buyers/tenants to our property when the garden was like a forest and the inside of the house was a state. Use this agency back in 2011 up until 2013 and what a experience and a learning curve it had been,from a flat that had five rooms out six full of damp from floors to rafters in the ceiling to spot lights burning black. You had no other way out only to release us from the tenancy agreement once the housing panel from Glasgow got involved. As to moving us free of charge, it was my understanding at first that a reliable moving company was to move us, yet we had been moved by your maintenance team that had know knowledge. of moving furniture which resulted in a large hole being made in the bottom of a new settee and other items being broken. I stayed on St Stephen Street with Murray & Currie for over a year and have really enjoyed my renting experience. The staff are friendly and their maintenance team superb - we had "Joe" visit us a couple of times and he is a real charactor. My advice if renting in Edinburgh is to steer well clear of this company. My experience of them can only be described as hurrendous from start to finish!! The staff don\'t communicate with each other and you cannot tell which one is lying to you when you get told two different version of events from two different people. Alan, we are fully aware of your situation and understood this to be fully resolved. The deposits are held in a government regulated scheme so any deductions must be approved by the relevant scheme. I understand we have actually decided to pay for the cleaning bill ourselves so as to resolve this for you. If you still feel we are trying to "claw anything back" please contact us directly but our understanding is your deposit was returned in full so there is little need in discussing you....

I have used many agents in town, from the largest through to a few smaller agencys dealing with linger term (6 months+) lettings for me on residential properties within the city centre. I first used Murray and Currie in 2009 when they handled a let flat in Stockbridge.
