This is a warning to all prospective tenants who are wishing to rent a property with Mather Marshall. It is probably one of the worst experiences I have had when dealing with a letting agent. I have never dealt with more unhelpful and unprofessional people then these so called agents. My daughter is a student at Herts University. She & 4 others recently rented a student property through MM. I went with my daughter yesterday and the other 4 tenants (with parents) to sign up and take possession of the property. WARNING DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS ESTATE AGENTS AS THEY WILL GIVE YOU STRESS AND SCAM YOU OUT ON YOUR ADMIN FEES. Me and my friends were desperate to move in to a property they made us pay £162 for admin fees which they said are for a credit check and guarantor documents. A credit check is £2 and guarantor documents cost at max £60 so where did the other £100 go? They should be banned from dealing with students and sued for misselling. I am writing to thank mather marshall once again for another great job. Having used them in the past i recently sold my home and purchased my new home through Duncan. I was pleased to see that nothing had changed, the service from beginning to end was up to previous high standards and their local knowledge is second to none. I would have no problem recommending mather marshall and have even done so to my mother who is over the moon and has a buyer already at a great price, thanks again guys!...

Worst company I have ever dealt with! They getting nothing done, are completely unprofessional and rude. I have friends who were going to rent from them however advised them not too - didn\'t want to have to put up with the awful service we had to deal with. I have dealt with Debbie Norris for 17 years firstly as a tenant and for the past 7 years as a landlady. I can honestly say that Mrs Norris is incredibly fair and thorough for both sides. I have never had to chase tenants for rent. Very rare in this day and age. Mrs Norris takes out all the hassle of renting she has the upmost integrity, honesty and is a total asset. As a person new to the lettings industry back in 2004 I can only go on what I have experienced. The property I have in Hatfield is managed by Mather Marshall and I have found them to be professional, efficient and helpful during the last 9 years. I have always received excellent, professional service from them and will continue to use them in the future. Good afternoon :) Hatfield is an area where a lot of students (from the University of Hertfordshire) rent properties to live in during university term times, therefore many are embarking on the property ladder for the first time and are, therefore, inexperienced. What agent could do to change your mind?
1. Be honest and upfront with students about the fees they have to pay 2. Do not be patronising and unfriendly. It does not hurt to have manners and decorum, eg, something simple like POLITELY asking \"Sorry, I did not get your name?\" Or \"Sorry, who is this I am speaking to?\" Instead of \"...and who are you?\" You can be assertive if you have to be, but being assertive does not mean you have to be rude and unpleasant. 3. Be helpful and patient to students who are renting for the first time. Believe it or not, students talk about their experiences with letting agents and I will campaign with the University to let students become aware of their rights and to know what is and what is not acceptable from letting agents.

HI I would like to state that ALL our fees are on the student accommodation list, on the reservation form as well and also sent to the guarantors of the students too. Invoices are also sent to the tenants and their guarantors. We also run through the fees whilst the students are reserving the property. Also our fees are also on our website hatfieldstudentlettings.com. So I do feel your comments are unjust.....

Bought a student let through MM. Renovated, then asked them to manage letting. BIG MISTAKE! Not listed on website, despite promptings. No new photos taken. After weeks without feedback discovered 2 promised viewings were fictional. Asked for key to give to another agent. Suddenly our keys wouldn\'t work. I have commented before regarding this particular incident, but I shall reiterate, firstly the key was broken in the lock, we arranged change of lock, charged to ourselves, in no way were you charged for this, as we had not let for you before and would not have had any money holding in any case. We spoke to you for a considerable amount of time, as the property was not ready, you then let it via another agent at a lot less rental than we were advertising it for you.....

I am a landlord with Mather Marshall Lettings, I have been for the past 7 years, I have found them to be extremely helpful, going more than the full mile to assist in any problems with my property. They have collected my post for me, which is not part of their contract, but did so to help me out. I have previously been a tenant of Mather Marshall Lettings in Hatfield, living in two separate properties through them and i am now renting through the Knebworth branch, I would not hesitate to rent through them again as you would expect we had some minor maintenance issues with the properties but these were dealt with quickly and proffessionally, the worst of which was the boiler needing replacing due to a carbon monoxide leak which was detected by the carbon monoxide monitor mather marshall i...

Be warned, this company does not have a fair approach to business and will not financially reimburse you for their mistakes. You have to continually chase them and when it is important they don't update you and if there is any financial implications, if they can't get the landlord to cover their mistake then as a tenant you are out of pocket. ...
