We feel the agent did not convey our offer correctly to the vendor, telling them we had met their price without including the proviso that we had made that our increased offer was to include contents and furnishings to the value of £5,000. Therefore the vendors thought we had met their price while we thought we had negotiated some furnishings for the property. This we feel was dishonest and caused embarrasment and problems when finalising the sale through the solicitors.

We put our house on the market with Hunters ,Carlisle partly because of the link to the Scottish market and also because of the meeting with the valuer and their presentation. They made us feel valued and like they wanted our business. Despite undervaluing the house, we went with them. We didn't put it on at their valuation which was just as well. The photos and details of the house were very well done and put the house in a good saleable position. However from then on it wasn't a very positive experience. We rarely had any contact from them to see how the process between solicitors was going despite some delays due to late questions. They didn't know if we had exchanged . The times we rang up we found it difficult to contact the agent assigned to us. It felt very impersonal and we felt a bit neglected. There were a few times we rang and no one answered at all. Very disappointed with customer service. There was hardly any contact after sale complete other than an invoice for payment which incidentally we have had no acknowledgement that payment has been made.

My recent experience has been very poor. They don't seem to communicate very well with the vendor nor help them to achieve a sale.
I am interested in a property but it has several issues. I have made an offer based on the figures as priced by a local builder. This was rejected so I suggested I could increase my offer to the asking price if I can get access with the builder to investigate further and the cost isn't as high. The property is empty and I've asked for either a key or for the vendor or estate agent to meet there in an evening, when the builder is available. They won't do either so I am unable to increase my offer and the vendor achieve the asked for price. This seems very poor service. Surely the cost of the estate agent sending someone out for 30mins in the evening is offset by the extra sale price they achieve?
I could just offer the price asked and then flag it up to the surveyor and reduce my offer further down the line but this seems dishonest. But then I feel I am being left no alternative. *
