We moved into a rental in an upscale building. We were told that the construction on our side of the building was finished. We were told having a pet wasn't going to be an issue when we signed the lease, now we are not allowed! 2 months into renting, the construction seems to be taking place on and above our apartment only. The balcony, daylight, and the view we pay for are not accessible. We have no privacy or we have to keep curtains closed at all times since construction is active even on Saturdays! We can't live or work in it with constant drilling above our heads. The place was only semi-professionally cleaned when we arrived. 80% of the appliances and sink and toilet needed repair. We still have repairs going on. We were told there is heating, when we arrived we found that it only covers the living room. All window frames will be replaced (all windows!!!- that is about 20 m long window area), as if all these couldn't have been done before we moved. There is a constant flow of service people coming and going into the apartment. They sent 2 different companies for the same job making things even more complicated. And, again we can't have pets, even though we discussed that before we signed. Horrible business ethics! We expect lower rent and permission for pet! Get it solved!

I recently took up a short term rental through Foxtons at St Johns Wood. The sales team was very eager and responsive. Being a short term rental I paid for the rent upfront (7 weeks). However, the property management team has been pathetic. Firstly, the day we were to move in, the water supply had not been started, cleaners refused to clean the place, bath rooms were filthy and soiled. The water was started at 4pm that evening, cleaners arrived only the next afternoon and finished cleaning at 6 pm. To make matters worse one bath room (out of 2) could not be used because of the basin and bath were plugged (this was resolved 8 days later). Amongst other issues, 1 out of the 6 lights in living area is functioning, as there was tripping in the lines. It is now over 2 weeks and the same has not been addressed. The property management team are incompetent, do not answer calls and basically do not care. No one from the team has ever visited the property. The landlord has been unresponsive (so I am made to believe) as no repairs are done without her approval and approvals are pending for days. How this property was let out in the first place is difficult to believe? If you ever plan on renting a property managed by Foxtons... please insist on visiting the property a few days before check in and check that all the basic amenities are working. I am left shocked at their level of service - bad is an understatement!!

They conned me into signing the lease in an agents car in the dark so I didn't lose the flat. Worst experience of all of the flats I've rented across many cities and a few countries.

Hassan was great to work with, it took us a little longer to find a property as we were moving from France and couldn't decided on the right property. However our agent didn't give up and took into consideration everything that we wanted in an apartment including location, light, rooms, bathrooms, budget etc.. to the last detail and ended up finding something that was perfect for us. He also made all the viewings enjoyable and fun. We would recommend hi.m to anyone looking for the right apartment

I urge you to never deal with Foxtons.
On the first day, when we moved into the apartment, we detected gas in it and called National Grid Emergency, which stated officially that there a gas leak in the apartment.
So, with the direct assistance of Foxtons, I was let an unsafe apartment, which could put the lives of me and my family in danger.
Foxtons did not check the safety of the apartment before we moved in.
Despite the fact that the landlord broke the terms of the contract, Foxtons hasn't returned the money.
I urge you to never deal with Foxtons. They don't care about the safety of the apartment or houses, they let. And never accept their responsibility afterwards.
You will also have big problems with returning your money.
And especially - I urge you to never deal with Ed Rafter. This guy does not deserve his place. Always ask for another manager!

These guys were so smarmy, and took weeks longer to find tennent than any other agent I have used in the area. I have been renting this property out for 10 years, and these guys took the longest to find me a tennent. They are also so EXPENSIVE! £350 + vat as a signing fee? My next agent after i ditched Foxtons doesnt charge a signing fee, got me a better tennent and at the same rent as Foxtons, which they said they could get higher rents than everyone else! Avoid like the plague if you want to rent your property, never going with another chain agent, local only for me. They can FOXTONS OFF for all I care.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Could improve by the estate agent having a completely different attitude, maybe trying to at least act like you care could help. Also making sure the flat is ready to live in, call me fussy, but I\'m sure a large majority of people wouldn\'t sleep in a room covered in someone else\'s hair and stains.

The level of service from Foxtons was awful from day one. When we arrived to collect our keys for the flat, we were promised more than one set of keys but on arrival it seemed like no one even knew why we were there. We had to explain that we were moving in and eventually got given ONE set of keys (meaning we had to independently cut a set of our own keys costing money and time).
So, then we arrive at the flat and the flat is FILTHY. After us having to sign the contract promising we would get professional cleaners in when we leave, it came as a rather huge suprise that we would be given the flat in such a state when we'd just signed the papers meaning we had to clean it when we left. (little did we know that we'd be given it in this way). Not only this, but after investigation of the flat we notice that over half of all the light bulbs were not working and the fire alarms were out.
After ringing the estate agent several times and having to persuade him to come and give us an explanation, when he arrived he showed no signs of remorse. It wasn't as if we were complaining about one light bulb missing or one crumb on the table....there were in fact whole rooms with NO light bulbs working, hair and stains stuck to the floor, excrement in the toilet when we arrived, crumbs and smudges all over the kitchen surfaces, a broken chair and the whole flat smelt.
In order for me to move in that night we had to then take about 3 hours of our own time cleaning two rooms of the flat in order for me just to live there for the meanwhile. The estate agent didn't apologize once for the state we found the flat in. He had an arrogant and careless attitude when dealing with us, and after paying a free of around £320 to prevent these exact things from happening it was just hugely disappointing and upsetting.
I would NEVER recommend Foxtons to anyone.
