Awful! Myself and my housemate paid £900 deposit for our flat. We left within Coronavirus which was hard enough and made sure the flat was left exactly as it was when we moved in. We have video evidence of how we left the flat which we sent as proof. Despite this we were deducted £600 from our deposit. We were told there was a cleaning fee involved for the most anal things, like some dust in the wardrobes. We were also told that we were being charged for “missing items” which included a half a pot of paint. They then admitted that this paint could have been removed by the landlord however this would still be deductible as it’s not proven. Finally we were told we were being charged for a new bed as apparently we broke the original, which is completely false. It is evident in the video provided that the bed in question was not broken and was exactly as it was when we moved in. We also received no proof of how old the bed was and no proof of the bed being broken in the first place, we were just told to accept it and move on. After some back and forth we managed to get the agent to contact the landlord so that he could re-think the charge. Eventually the landlord agreed to pay half of the bed price which still meant we were being deducted almost £500! We wanted to show the landlord the video evidence we had but the agent refused to send the video and kept saying she was struggling to view it and would’ve give us any details to contact the landlord ourselves. Horrific service. Sent 8 emails within 1 month and heard nothing back. Left multiple voicemails and none have been returned.
