It's difficult to know where to start with this - these people have made our lives miserable over the last 4 years.
Initially it was a shock to realise that they thought I was on their payroll, and was responsible for managing their hopeless contractors, but after a while you come to realise they are just lazy and incompetent.
Of course, maybe their contractors wouldn't be so hopeless if everything didn't got through their Fixflo system, which seems to be designed to maximise the money they charge landlords whilst minimising the amount they pay contractors. This always worked out well for them, they usually got to charge the landlord twice because the first guy would screw something up. Just for context we had water flooding through our kitchen window in the middle of winter for 8 weeks, and a heating failure mid winter which took 2 weeks to resolve. Fun times.
It didn't help that the landlord was also useless, and probably caused them a lot of grief, but when it came to moving out they still conspired with the landlord to refuse to pay my deposit back on the basis of the damage caused by the flooding, damage they didn't fix after an attempted break in, replacement of 20 year old carpet (wtf?) and the fact they want me to move some furniture which was there when we moved in.
Now that they've reported this damage to the landlord in such a way that it hides their own incompetence they've told me none of this is their responsibility and I have to go through arbitration (incidentally they repeatedly misrepresent our responses to the landlord in order to make it look like we're the problem). Better yet the phone number of the person who is supposedly dealing with this is dead, so it's obviously standard practice to default to stealing the deposit.
Landlords - they'll maximise what they charge to you, minimise what they pay contractors and they'll lie to you about tenants responses.
Tenants - run away, this company is a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Now I've got to spend more time and money on legals to get my deposit back, which is representative of every contact I've had with them, everything I've ever asked them for should have been a simple phone call or web form and a call back to confirm, but it always results in a frustrating chase after someone who can't be bothered to do any work and doesn't think the law applies to them.

Appalling service from Countrywide. They don't phone back when you leave messages despite saying they will. Took many weeks to get the oven fixed in our property. What agent could do to change your mind?
Improve customer service. Compensate tenants when they have been badly treated and receive poor service.

Appalling service from Countrywide. They don't phone back when you leave messages despite saying they will. Took many weeks to get the oven fixed in our property. Was told they couldn't deal with my problem as the person dealing with our problem was on holiday so we had to wait till they were back before anything further could be done. Didn't apologise until I sent a formal complaint and even then did not consider compensation for the huge inconvenienced caused. I think the number of poor reviews they have confirms what I have also found - terrible customer service. I will never rent a property from a company which uses them again.

What agent could do to change your mind?
reply to my calls, answer my call, be honest, help when it is needed, supply a maintenance service, give me a key to the back door when I ask for it. have a bit of respect, be nice.

I want to take countrywide residential lettings to court, I want to close them down for good. They have ripped me off from my deposit which is still outstanding, they have not supplied a single service I have paid for and they have not replied to any of my calls or emails. I moved into a property which had a blocked toilet for a month, the only toilet. We called everyday for a month to get this toilet unblocked, the landlord got it fixed only because I threatened not to pay rent. We have asked and begged for back door key, never recieved one. The house was filthy when I moved in and asked a rep from countrywide to make an appearance to discuss all problems. I have not seen anyone from countrywide my entire stay. I would like everybody that has had a terrible experience as I have to join me and take them to court. cerwinmeijer@gmail.com

How I wish i had read the reviews before I got involved with Countrywide! How do they stay in business one wonders? Simple - they screw tenants and offer appalling service in a market where the tenant has little choice or control over who manages their tenancy.

How I wish i had read the reviews before I got involved with Countrywide! How do they stay in business one wonders? Simple - they screw tenants and offer appalling service in a market where the tenant has little choice or control over who manages their tenancy. They simply ignore phone calls and formal complaints. When they think you havent done somthing they need you to do (like facilitate a gas inspection; even when they are wrong) they send you multiple threatening letters. It is over a month since I left their property and no deposit back and no word from them how much they intend to seek to retain or why? Do not go near them...

The worst agents ever, similar training to phones4u. Why they are so bad?
1- Will pass your details to millions of companies who will start to contact you to sell you there products including: landline, mobile, insurance, etc.

The worst agents ever, similar training to phones4u. Why they are so bad? 1- Will pass your details to millions of companies who will start to contact you to sell you there products including: landline, mobile, insurance, etc. 2- They transferred me to eon without my consent after living more than a month at the property, the problem is that they placed me on the most expensive energy tariff 3- They asked for £125 contract renewal fee and they will trick you to pay it regardless whether you wan to renew the contact or contiue on periodic one. 4- They will never respond to your quires 5- They do not pick up the phone I have been renting all of my life and I've been living in 4 different cities and I used many estate agents: no one is as bad as these people.
