This company has failed throughout my tenancy. They muddle payments, have miscredited payments, lost cheques, and sent me nasty threatening letters when I have paid the rent regularly. They visited and listed many issues needing urgent repair and promise that work will be done at once, but work is never done to address issues. When they have sent contractors their work is totally dreadful, they behave and act like cowboys causing more damage than they ever fix. I am an architect so I know what to expect of professional craftsmen. They have failed to carry out legally required tests of the heating and electricity services, and have lost important documents.
As a result of their incompetence I have now for over a year paid the landlord directly, cutting them out, and I have had reliable local tradesmen do the necessary work, and claimed the cost from the landlord. Countrywide has complained many times and tried to force me to pay them, but I have listed all their failures and pointed out that it would be irresponsible of me to continue to pay them. If they take me to court I will enjoy disclosing the extent of their incompetence.
My advice is simple ... NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.

I have experience with them as a renter, when the first year of my tenancy had ended they reached out offering me to renew for a further year in the property.
This was in April 2020 at the peak of coronavirus, they wanted to raise my rent despite my partner loosing his job and being unable to work. I replied to them via email and had not heard back after a week so attempted to phone them- their phone lines had been cut off. After a month someone replied to my email, and did not answer any of my questions or provide any helpful information.
After 8 weeks of emailing and trying to get a response from them, they sent me a new tenancy contract to sign which they would not let me sign digitally- despite me explaining I did not own a printer and felt uncomfortable going to a post office during a pandemic. They did not respond to this.
In short, do not expect them to answer any questions- or even respond to you in under a month. I cannot see what service they are providing, and I'm sure they are causing my landlord more issues than anything else, and have lost him a Tennant.

I just can't believe such behaviour from a company like this. I've been offered to renew the tenancy for another 2 years which I accepted, signed and paid the fees £120. After 3 months they came to me stating the landlord didn't sign back so I have to leave the property and countrywide won't refund the renewal fees.

Bad. After 6 month contract was up they wrote to say 'good news' you can stay another 6 months for £xxx as an arrangement fee. There is no arranging involved, it is a rolling contract. They will try it on.

1. Requesting money for items that are not necessary (extorting money for new contracts, when a rolling contract would suffice - Dont pay them) 2. Did not provide suitable notice for sale of property being let prior to inviting buyers to view (just turned up) 3. deliberate use of contract dates to trap people in longer contracts i.e. sending letters just prior to your required response date 4. Incorrect filling out of schedule 21 form to notify of sale (not legally binding) 5. Useless at correspondence 6. When we queried their lack of good business and the effect on us, rather than take it themselves for being useless they put it to the poor landlord who for some reason trusted these clowns and he lost �850 due to their incompetence. 7. DO NOT USE - TENANT OR LANDLORD - USELESS!!!!

Absolutely appalling service. Staff really did not want to be bothered, having written to me INCORRECTLY to demand 'remittance by return', stating that I was �173 in arrears on my rent. They also advised me that I would be charged �30 per letter for an further letters sent to me on the matter.
I really cannot be bothered to go into further detail. Suffice it to say that I would advise anyone looking for an agent to steer well clear of this company. They really are that bad.
What can they do to improve? Close down!

It is like Countrywide takes satisfaction in people's inconvenience and discomfort.To begin with, I was never sent fully signed contracts or inventory checks. In three years I never had a single request satisfied. Now it has been more than one month since I checked out and I'm still waiting for a simple update about what's going on with my deposit. I had to go through alternative dispute resolution through the deposit protection scheme. Overall, I would recommend to anyone to simply stay away from these people. Surely there is another place and agent out there. I can guarantee you will appreciate it later.

I have been contacted twice (two months consecutively) in error by the credit control team to inform me of my outstanding arrears. My landlord had received the same notice stating that I defaulted on my rental payment. This error is detrimental to anyone's character and should only be tolerated once.
The bank reference code had been set up correctly from the start and the lease amount was scheduled to deduct 3 days before the next period. I requested for controls to be put in place after the first incident and it had been ignored as the error was repeated, bringing about inconveniences for both the landlord and myself, the tenant.
I do not know if this is an isolated incident but I will suggest to exercise caution when selecting your agency or rental payment set up!
