Where do I even start...We've gone through the heartache to be in the process of buying a property for almost 5 months, to only receive an email that the seller changed her mind about selling. We've invested a lot of money, time and mental energy in to this. The estate agent Clare Cross, didn't even reply to our email, when we found ourselves in this terrible situation. This surprised us as we were always very polite to them. And this is after she told us on the phone, we're going to get the money we invested back for sure...Well we didn't get it back. The seller told us, they were good friends with this estate agent, I mean it's also a publicly available information that they are friends on facebook etc. It is all very dodgy.... My partner complaint about this unacceptable treatment to the head office and we were shocked to learn that Clare Cross asked her friend the seller to forward private emails my partner sent to the seller and was reforwarding them further! This is illegal, copyright infringement and illegal for a reason. This was a surprising initiative from this agent, as she was so unreliable during the process, would never call back as agreed. She blamed the seller for all this calling her friend 'flaky' and other names. It is all very unprofessional and dodgy, the seller is her friend and she hasn't even tried to pretend we are treated fairly.

The transaction was not completed, we lost a large sum of money in searches and solicitor fees as the other side - the seller pulled out after 5 months in process, 2 weeks before completion. We received no support from Connells and feel defrauded. We decided to invest in holiday rental property last autumn to be on time and make most of the summer season business. In September we made an accepted offer on a property sold by Connells choosing between 3 other apartments. As mentioned above it ended up badly. We are devastated as I rushed to exchange my money in an unfavourable course of exchange to fulfil my commitments (all my savings are in CZK). This was in time when the course of exchange was expected to turn favourable and already did since, this leaves me further thousands in a loss, there is now no property to pay for suddenly! Our business plan and future earnings are shut down for this whole year. There was no communication from the agents after the seller pulled out. I wrote a polite email to Clare (our agent) stating these facts and asking if there is any chance we could get the fees back as it's so unfair. I never got any reply. The seller pulled out, we are out of the game! There is certainly no politeness or sympathy to be expected from these crocs. It matches the morals of the seller, who I have politely asked if they could cover the legal fees since they pulled out and was told ' Honey wake up, you'll learn that legally I don't have to pay anything'. We are fully aware of the situation, that estate agents have enough of buyers and they are just trying to get the sellers in, but the way they treat people is an unacceptable disgrace.

I put my house on the market with Connells. It took 3 weeks for my house details to actually go live. I had to write them myself, the typos were so bad in theirs. No floor plan! I was incredibly busy over that period, (i don't live in the area), I wish I had cancelled in the 14 days as per their contract. 1 viewing in 3 months. I did all the chasing. This is the most dormant estate agent I have ever come across. I was told to put my house on £20 000 over the price of what my house is worth, being assured we have buyers who'll pay that. You think - great, they're really going to drive this sale. The most incompetent, time wasting agent I've come across. Stay away from them. Now I have changed agents, my new agents had set up 2 viewings the day it went live. Full floor plan, top quality photos - all in a days work! I'll also be leaving a review on theirs which will be quite the opposite to this one. Badly done Connells - raise your game and stop wasting people's time!

Shani has always striven to provide us with the best service possible and I highly commend her services.
I do, however, have some issues with the way that Connells is set up as a letting agency. It appears to me that they have too few people doing too much work. They have difficulty effectively covering absences which can leave the customer high and dry. I have had to deal with a number of different people and repeat several times what was a relatively complex situation. I had hoped, when joining Connells that (as with another agency with which I deal) there would be one person with whom I dealt who then sorted out issues with other branches of the business. This has not really felt like it is the case. Tenant changes have, as a result, felt complex and difficult. I do not regard any of this as being the fault of Shani who is very good at her job. It is a fault of under staffing and cumbersome policies and procedures within the business.

Very poor service overall. Selling my house with Connells. Initial photos were poor. No wide angle lens used. Wrong photos put into website. Second set of photos requested, slow to organise. Poor advice given. Will not release from contract.

What agent could do to change your mind?
They need to check vendors situation at the start of the process, not expect the buyer to find it all out after forking out a lot of money and time.
I was due to buy a property, offer accepted. 3 Months down the line nothing had moved on, neither of us in a chain. There were restrictions on the property, and the vendor was in negative equity. Connells did nothing at all to move this on without a lot of pushing by me. They then claimed that they were not getting paid any more for the property, yet I finally found out from the vendors solicitor that they were claiming £4000 from the vendor on top of the £10,000 negative equity and another substantial debt that had to be paid off as well. They made no effort at all to apologise, and blamed the customer. They should have chased this information up quicker, they should have helped the customer with forms she needed to fill in. Only at the end of 4 months did they start to offer some help, by which time it was clear it was too late due to the vendors finances. They should have found out information like this before I had to pay solicitor fees, mortgage fees etc. Now I am unpacking cardboard boxes and have no where to live.
