The rental process with Chancellors has been a completely nightmare! I had lots of problems to get my keys once I had paid the cleared funds. I had to let in your office the luggage and came back 4 times to get my keys because the person who managed this wasn't in the office to tell if the reference was ok. I will call you back means nothing to these people. Absolutely pathetic. I have been calling for 1 week now and they don't have any updates at all. Lettings team is hopeless. I think they have lot of properties and very few staff members to handle them. Why take so many properties when you don't have 2 minutes to call back a prospective customer. Sickening. At least increase your staff if you are short staffed. Do something about it. It is very very frustrating to call chancellors a million time...

Both Ben and Sue were very helpful and supportive of finding tenants and kept me informed of progress as much as they were themselves informed. I did feel however that the coordination with the head office let the branch team down otherwise my scoring would be "excellent"...

I dealt with Sue Shelly, Ben Stevens and Lucy Reeves on renting two properties out with yourselves. Sue started the process by running through terms and conditions and attending the properties. With me and my flatmate living quite far from Newbury, it was quite difficult in finding a place to rent for our Placement year and somehow ended up walking into Chancellors. The only problem we found was trying to understand what we needed to sign and do in order to rent the property. Friendly helpful competent service all around. Sales person Maxine Hall helped us negotiate with the vendor so the price was agreed without the usual delays. Another Sales person Marc Rollings followed up very effectively, helping us to shove the vendor\'s tardy advisors so that completion was achieved by an important deadline date for us. I would highly recommend this firm, and have apparently had a completely different experience from other reviewers....

We\'ve been trying to buy a house in Newbury for over 6 months and are fed up with Chancellors putting property up online which is already sold and advertising it as available. Once I rang to organise viewings on 6 properties, to find all but 1 was already sold. Why would a buyer want to continue advertising it(some have been up for weeks and weeks!) as available as they don\'t record our details to tell sellers, or get intouch if theybecome available again (as at least 2 houses have!) What agent could do to change your mind?
They contract out everything - key handling, deposit handling, maintenance. They do nothing for the tenant and rip them off at every step. How to improve? Go bust and don\'t sully the high streets with your scum.

I do not believe the problem to be the staff, I think the fundamental ethos of the company is wrong so no one person to blame. In fact certain members of staff have been useful.
