Horrific experiences - tardy to broken boilers, our back door was broken for a month (and allowed entry to all, so we couldn't move in for a month). They and the Landlord declined to push back the move-in date, thus losing £1100 of rent. The property wasn't cleaned twice and we ended up painting the entire property. Bed mattress was at a 45 degree angle and it took in excess of four opinions (independent company, ourselves, the letting agent and the land lord's!) in order to get it repla...

Comment on agent fees
As with all estate agent fees - extortionate.

I have been renting with Chancellors for 6 months now. From the start, they have been professional and efficient. Because we only had a week between the viewing and the move-in date, they arranged everything from inventory to our contract to a move-in appointment within a couple of days, and they were very good at keeping us up-to-date. Since we have moved in, they have always responded quickly to phone calls and emails, and we always receive ample notice if anyone is going to visit the property...

It would be very convenient if Chancellors did something about the process of finishing the tenancy agreement. I was told to contact the landlord for the check out, I had to give him the keys. I find incredible the amount we pay in fees to chancellors when they are doing nothing. Since the keys and the state of the apartment where done once I had given the keys to the landlord I could argue that it was him who dirtied the house once we had left the place....

Comment on agent fees
we had to call arrange everything directly with the landlord the only time we had contact with chancellors was to do the viewing and to pay the fees. unacceptable to have to arrange the check out process without any involvement of cahncellors. luckily the landlord was amazing.

I am sorry to learn that there was some confusion surrounding the chain of events that took place at the end of your tenancy. Your landlord has opted to manage the property himself, and as such he would be responsible for arranging the check-out and informing you of the necessary arrangements. It would be your right to ask for the opportunity to attend the check-out along with the landlord, if he wishes to attend, and this would ensure that you were present at the time the report was drawn up....

Tried several estate agents when looking for a short term flat and many refused to even show us properties if we weren\'t prepared to sign up for at least 12 months. Chancellors were extremely helpful when I told them our requirements which was a two bed flat near to Oxford for a minimum of 6 months, and we needed it within 2 weeks. As it happens we did sign up for 12 months as our circumstances changed. Alex Zarecky at the Headington office was very helpful in identifying our needs, arrangin...

James Godfrey was an absolute godsend to us. We were purchasing our first home and very nervous and anxious about the process. James always put us at ease whilst at the same time being completely honest. We felt so comfortable with James that we would contact him as our first port if call, not our solicitors. In a world where everyone seems to be out for number 1, James was a breath of fresh air. I would recommend James to anyone buying or selling property....

Chancellors promised everything but delivered nothing. We paid them to manage the rental of the property for 1 year. They put a tenant in but we would have been better off selecting someone straight off the street. The property was wrecked causing over £5,000 internal damage and all the furniture was damaged and had to be replaced. No bills had been paid during the year and debt collectors are still chasing the tenant and his friends. The tenant\'s deposit covered so little of this and Cha...

What agent could do to change your mind?
They should have refunded the management fee as they did not earn any of it.

Have sent 4 emails and phoned 3 times over the last 8 days to try to arrange a viewing. No one has replied to my emails nor phoned me back, nor left me a voicemail. The property has been advertised for quite some time and the asking price has dropped quite a lot - funny that - perhaps there have been no viewings on it?! If I were the owner of this property I would be asking some serious questions. Unfortunately the property is empty and so I can\'t contact the owner and tell them how hard it ...

Returned one of my many calls. Responded to one of many emails. Left me a voicemail to day the property is under offer / still on the market. Arrange a viewing. Have a contact us section on their website where someone actually does.

Chancellors in Headington are a great team of letting agents, frankly. Ben Newman provided an excellent service throughout, and him, Jonathan and the team promptly got me a number of viewings which has resulted in a successful let for 12 months. I remain a very satisfied customer and firmly endorse their professionalism throughout....

Awful, there all smiles until they get your money then they don\'t care. At the end when they brought people round to view my property they left the front door unlocked and en-suite light left on and another occasion I came back to see my bedroom curtains all over the floor, absolutely disgraceful!! Never ever go with them!...

Horrible experience! This agency made us feel like we were worth nothing. We have been renting for over 8 years with help of several different agencies in England. This was our first experience with Chancellors, and hopefully the last. The agents we dealt with at the branch in Headington, Oxford, were the most disrespectful people we have ever dealt with while looking for a property to rent. We have always been considered as desirable tenants, with vast experience, excellent references and wel...

What agent could do to change your mind?
Agents should be helpful, respectful, have a decent human understanding and patience, as well as some good customer service manners. In today\'s world I believe this is a really basic requirement.

Chancellors promised that they would manage the tenancy of my flat. They take their money and then do nothing to earn it. The property was wrecked and they washed their hands of any responsibility. What do they get paid to do? They believe the tenant has all the rights - rights to privacy - rights to stay until end of lease - even when they have broken all the tenancy agreement rules. They were nothing less than useless....

The agent is unbelievably rude, will treat most people like they are no one and he is the boss and make you feel like if not him then you will not find an accommodation. I am not the only one who dealt with him and thought that he was an absolutely arrogant "person". He also scammed people previously and will try to get as much money as possible if you are foreign, especially international student. For example, to one couple who were not Intr. students he offered a flat for £1100...
