My main problem is with the Townends head office Lettings and Management team. Six months ago I moved into a house with three other tenants. One of the worst agency in London. Their employees are totally unqualified and unable to manage properties and offer a serious customer relationship. Firstly, they put a terrible tenant in our property. A fixed two year tenancy with no break clause (my fault for not picking that up but I have never had a tenancy with no 6 month break clause). We end up having to hire a solicitor to get her evicted. Then it turns out the Guarantors document that Townends had the tenants Mother signed, is totally worthless, so we are out of pocket by thousands of pounds due to rent arrears, legal costs etc. Then we email Townends and follow their complaints...

Upon viewing what we expected to be our dream home in Oct we have since had a 10 month nightmare. The property was mis-advertised. The negotiator made up conversations between herself and the landlord to keep us happy before the contracts were finalised. No checks were carried out prior to us moving in. Under no circumstances let Towenends manage your property. They are by far the worst I've ever worked with. Absolutely terrible communication âร‚โ‚ฌร‚โ€œ you can never get of anyone when you need them and end up dealing with the situation yourself (so what exactly is the management fee for?). When you eventually get hold of someone they are rude and unhelpful. I'll be very pleased when I can move the management of my property elsewhere....

These guys are lovely until the point where hard work and perseverance is needed, then they will lie through their teeth and string you along for months and months without actually doing any real work. This agency is a one big joke. We paid huge fees for the service that we don't get. All they do, they find you a landlord - that's it. I just rang them, because we already living in our property for 2 months and we still haven't received a contract. We rented with Townends for two years. They were non responsive to emails and phone calls and expected us to live in disgraceful conditions due to their need to spend as little money as possible in maintaining the property. I experienced an absence of professionalism and integrity. Turned up for a second viewing with my frail, 85-year-old mother only to be told by the owner that she had taken it off the market. The property was damaged after the viewing. The day before the check in I was contacted several times from the agency to make sure I had paid everything and at no point anybody mentioned the issue. Spoke to around 7 - 8 different people from Townends. No one passed on information to each other or to us throughout the process. Complete failure to return our calls in the first few months. This lengthened the process (Took around 8 - 9 months from offer acceptance to completion) This could have been made shorter and far less stressful. To be fair as the process went on, things got better, but overall this could have been managed better from the start....

This is the worst experience I have ever had from a viewing. The estate agent turned up twenty minutes late, I was shown to a shed at the end of a garden littered with rubbish.
