Literally horrible from start to finish. It seems from other reviews that they're fantastic for landlords, but they are absolutely appalling when dealing with tenants. We moved into a flat in city centre and were shocked to find it was damp, covered in mould, and the previous tenants hadn't cleaned anything before leaving. Dealt with these two and Michele on odd occasions. Competent and helpful throughout recent reletting of property in Altrincham. By using an agent you will always be on top of latest legal developments which in the case of let property can be a bit of a minefield. Good documentation, sensible recommendations, good credit vetting (in my experience) and quick responses to any issues raised. Nothing but praise here... But well deserved!...

Terrible service. My fob was damaged through no fault of my own and were incredibly difficult in providing a new one without me paying out first and I ended up not having a fob and thus no access to my flat for a week. A WHOLE WEEK. After I said I would pay they promised to pay me back but have put off that still and it has been a month since. Also terrible service and organisation shown in flat viewings. Absolutely awful, avoid them at all costs! We moved out of a rented property over a month ago and we still haven't received our deposit back. I have left multiple voicemail messages and sent emails that have just been ignored. I think that it's disgusting that nobody is trying to help us resolve this, especially when the property was left in a clean condition....

The re-let of my flat in Manchester was handled professionally and quickly by Katie. The viewing process was easy and I was kept fully informed of progress. WARNING ! PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS ! - Proposed tenancy start date delayed by 1 week and only gave us 2 days notice after we paid the deposit and rent fees upfront. - When we finally moved in, the flat was in an unliveable condition (covered in dust, cob webs, works required in bathroom). - Under the TA, it was their obligation to do a meter reading for all utilities. These letting agents have to be the worse if you are a landlord. I highly recommend you do not use them. They have let me down again and again and I am £4000 out of pocket because of lack of communication and action from this firm. I would not have given them one star but am obliged to in order to submit this form....

The service from this company has got even worse since this review. while Keeley has sought to be in contact the day to day running of my property was deteriorated with no informationre checkout of my tenant- nearly £600 of rent arrears and a new tenant found without my permission at a charge of £600 -DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY....

Thornley Groves are nothing short of a shambolic establishment. When originally looking for a property to rent, I had to call the company 4 times to arrange a viewing! This was then followed by clearly over the top aggressive sales tactics. Thornley Groves purchased Barlow Costley lettings agents a few years ago and took the staff with them. It's just as well because the staff are superb. They managed my property for about 6 years and in that time life has been so easy. When a repair needs to be made, they have a network of reliable and reasonably priced service providers. I have had excellent service from the Swinton Branch. I am a landlord and was dealt with by Clare Carpenter who has rented out my property. She was extremely professional throughout and the property was rented very quickly and a maximum amount of rent was achieved. Rubbish service from Thornley Groves, arranged to view a flat on a Friday within minutes of it being advertised, were called a couple of hours before the viewing to say the agency did not have the property keys yet therefore could not access the property. Mariese did a wonderful job in selling 2 Hill Quays for me. She found a buyer within hours, at the full asking price - no haggling. The buyer wanted to exchange before 1 April which only gave us about six weeks. But Mariese kept her eye on the ball and with the support of Matt Smith we beat the deadline by approx 24 hours. I have known Stuart for many years when he worked at Shepherd Gilmour. He has at all times been available to provide advice and support when I was buying/selling/renting properties. I made an appointment with one of their letting agents to view a few apartments in Manchester, I arrived from London only to visit these properties and about 45 minutes before our appointment, the agent called me to cancel all the viewings (apart one flat) because the apartments were no longer available.
