During my tenancy there was a full month when I had to endure water pouring through my bedroom ceiling and the landing ceiling every time it rained. No reduction was offered on rent, in fact the rent was raised. Following the leaks, mould spread through the living room and bedroom of the property as a result, and the agents and landlady made it clear that they expected us as tenants to clean the mould. The kitchen had cockroaches and I was told by a team member at Michael Jones in Worthing: "in terms of the cockroaches it is a tenant’s responsibility to eradicate pests"
