I contacted this agents from another town, in the North West, to arrange a viewing of a flat in Norwich I had found on the rightmove website. On the phone, the lady talking to me took my details, and I specified I was going to be a postgraduate student and she warned me that the property was not in proximity of UEA, I replied it was fine with me. My partner and I drove down to Norwich for 6 hours and stayed overnight in order to be able to view this flat. On the day of the viewing, a very pleasant male agent showed us around the property and when he asked me what my occupation was, I replied I would be starting a postgraduate course at UEA in September. To this, he kindly replied that one of the previous tenants was a PhD student who loved to bring her books in the communal garden and study outside. When I returned home, I decided that I wanted to take the flat, and I called the agency. Another man asked me if he could take my details, and I gave them to him. When I said I would be a postgraduate student, he put me on hold, then came back and told me the landlord does not want students as tenants for that property, and that he would talk to him and, in case, ring me back. Of course, he never rang back, and I am left wondering: which one of the three times I stated that I am going to be a postgraduate student did they not grasp? What kind of service is this, with the person providing the service not listening to the necessities and basic requirements of the customer? I am appalled by the lack of respect and the carelessness towards the customer. My advice: avoid these agents, they will treat you like a number and make you feel like a waste of time.
