When we first viewed the house we live in through Murrays, they were super helpful and nice as all letting agents are while you're viewing. The house needed a lot of work and had no kitchen cupboard doors. Our previous home was being repossessed by the bank as our landlord hadn't been paying his mortgage so we needed somewhere quite quickly for the kids sake. We struck a deal and got money shaved off the monthly rental price if we did the cosmetic work ourselves. The fees and deposit were quite fair so we paid up, decorated and moved in.
That's where Murrays lost interest. The carpet they took out of the lounge & the old kitchen cupboard doors were left in the front garden in the rain & went mouldy as hell ,it took 5mths to get it removed & only after my girlfriend threatened to call environmental health about it. We've been here over a year now and STILL don't have kitchen cupboard doors. Too much rain brings on mouldy walls as there's rising damp and damage to the roof the roof. The bath leaks because it's not plumbed in properly & all the windows needed resealing which cost us a lot to get done. All the internal doors need replacing, there's chunks of wall missing around the skirting & about 10% of the electrical sockets need replacing. The front door isn't fitted properly and the lintel over it outside is now hanging away from the wall. These are all issues Murrays said they would sort out and haven't. There's only so much 'cosmetic' work we were willing to do to make the house liveable - it's Murrays job to ensure it's safe which it's not. The house needs stripping back and completely renovating but Murrays and the landlady (who lives miles away) have no interest in shelling out to make the house safe.
I got a new job with different pay dates and asked murrays about changing our rent due date to 2weeks later than it was and they said that if we change the pay date then the rent will go up. Now i expected to have to pay extra the first month the catch up the rent but paying extra every month is ridiculous. We refused to pay extra every month given the state of the house and they were very rude about it all. We've had enough now and are looking elsewhere. We photographed the house when we moved in and will be painting & getting carpet cleaners in before we move so Murrays can't accuse us of damaging anything as we're willing to bet that they'll try to keep out deposit. We paid nearly £2000 upfront (deposit, 1st month rent & fees) and got not service from Murrays what-so-ever. My advice would be to avoid them at all costs!
What agent could do to change your mind?
The agents should have kept the're promises and acted on the issues raised with them.

Just because I could....and then give you an eviction notice when you least expect it like a couple of weeks before Christmas....I have dealt with both of these agents and they are vile and should be prevented from ever letting...let’s face it nobody ever gets their deposits back because these unscrupulous agents try and grind you down....stay firm fella u are not alone
