I'm am absolutely appalled at the service we received from this company. They are a disgrace to their profession, no wonder Estate Agents get a bad press when there are companies like this around.

We found out by the couple who bought our property that they wanted to buy it the previous year but the agent had told them they could get them a better deal on another property. The couple did not pursue our house as they were so disgusted with the agent for doing this and wanted no dealings with them. How is that selling our house??

These people then take a huge sum of money when the property is finally sold for doing.... what exactly? Putting our photo in their window and waiting for people to contact them. And to top it all off, we had to leave the property whenever there was a viewer as the agent "didn't feel comfortable when we were in the house". How ridiculous is that?

Whenever we called the agent it was like we were bothering them and was told on one occasion that "we will contact you if anyone is interested" quite abruptly. We also found out when the price was agreed that the survey that was initially done by a company that Remax uses was absolutely worthless as the lenders did not recognise the company as belonging to any official body, so we then had to get another survey done by a company with 4 weeks to go till the sale date. Remax knew this company was not recognised, why did they use them ?? I suspect they have some kind of deal with this company and are just fulfilling they're legal obligations to provide a survey. We feel utterly cheated and ripped off by someone who told us they would sell our house and that they were working for the best outcome for us.

I would absolutely NOT recommend this company to anyone and will certainly be warning anyone we know in the future NEVER to use Remax.

"I feel uncomfortable about this because not only is it my home, they saw all the expensive items in my house, the man actually pointed out our safe in the bedroom and I showed them inside my cupboards which are lined with Christmas presents."

If you'd shown them round yourself at the first viewing, they still would have seen everything in your house. They stlll would have looked in your cupboards. If you're worried about your valuables, shouldn't you have cleared them away before ANY viewings took place?

Are you leaving the safe with the house? How would you propose the safe be mentioned (or not)? Is it visible to anyone coming into the room? If so, do you propose that it be hidden, with a cloth draped over it, or similar?

Not sure if you're leaving a review or merely asking questions.....

Is anyone still reading this thread??

I am currently selling my flat with Remax and last night a couple came up to view it. We are doing our own viewings but the estate agent turned up as they were also viewing the flat next door and he is handling viewings for that property. The viewers had lots of questions and I felt we didn't cover everything as estate agent was tyring to rush them out the door.

Today the estate agent has told us that couple want to see it again next week but requested it be empty and hand the keys over to estate agent.

I feel uncomfortable about this because not only is it my home, they saw all the expensive items in my house, the man actually pointed out our safe in the bedroom and I showed them inside my cupboards which are lined with Christmas presents.

I don't think it's normal to do that?

They asked me about dampness twice which I told them we didn't have, it would also be in the home report that was done by a very respected company if we did have any. This is the only reason I can think of that they want to see the house empty, unless the estate agent is the one suggesting it?

I appreciate the estate agent would probably be there with them but I don't know him any more than I know them and they want to view it 3 days before Christmas empty even though they know we have young children, it just seems odd.

What do u think?

I am a Remax associate and am appalled by these comments! The reason we prefer our clients not to be present at viewings is to put the potential buyers at ease. This way we can find out exactly what they think of the property, if there is something they don't like then we are more likely to find out and try and overcome it, rather than the client being there and the viewer not wanting to insult the person in their own home and all we would then usually hear is "we love it" and "it's lovely2, etc.... then away they go and we are none the wiser. Usually at that stage the potential buyer does not answer our calls and we never get the chance to try and convince them otherwise. I have NEVER forced a client to vacate their property to allow me to carry out a viewing, I explain my reasons for it, and in 5 years I have had 1 client who insisted on being there. I hope this puts some minds at ease...

As for Sandy Stevenson, I have never heard of that incident, but if it is true he should hang his head in shame and should never be allowed to sell a property for anybody ever again.

The reason they don't want you there I have found, and this is seemingly the case with Remax in general, is that they only want to deal with buyers who then will sell with Remax. So they want to sell their services to the viewer, rather than sell your house. I know because I made an offer for a property, and eventually knocked the door of the property because I was getting nowhere with the offer, to find they had heard nothing of it. The seller had a major bust up with them. I don't know how they get away with it as I'm sure this is illegal. Problem is no-one takes it further. So I would agree with above, NEVER use Remax.
