Initially given the impression by George that bungalows sell very quickly and therefore we would not be on the market too long even in a slow market. We were advised to leave the property empty so that potential buyers could see the space etc but this resulted in comments like rooms too small (even though two of the bedrooms had had double/twin beds in them with chests of drawers when it was occupied.) I think this was a mistake particularly as we had furniture in store and could have "dressed" the house. In the end we had to drop around £30000 from the initial asking price after over a year on the market to a sum stated by another estate agent over a year before. Helmores had in fact priced the property for probate then at a much higher figure than we even initially asked based on the figure they had sold the property to us 15 years ago and the rise in house prices. I do not feel that contact with us was always good and we had to contact Helmores to find things out ie when the sale fell through at Christmas 2013. On ringing up Helmores if the person dealing with the property was not around then others did not seem able to find the information we were seeking, in this age of computers there must be information on file I would have thought. However when the buyers that have now bought the property got involved Amy did have a lot of contact with us and was willing to find how things were proceeding. This is not meant to be a totally negative review but if you ask for comments these are given to help. I note however that the buyers of our property rated you excellent so perhaps it depends where you stand and for how long!! Further down you ask if we would use Helmores again, we just hope it will not be necessary as we do not plan to move but who knows?
