I have been renting properties for over 20 years and this is the first time that I have ever encountered such a poorly run agent.
When I first became a tenant of one of their private properties I had to call them up after the first day as I had no running hot water. The tank leaked.
Although the landlord came out and removed the lagging it was another 3 months before he returned to then tie new lagging with old car radio wire!
The tank could still not be used so for nearly six months I had to use the kettle to wash up.
I would phone Seymours weekly about it and also about the heating that has never worked properly.
I finally got the hot water resolved but only after countless emails, calls and visits from nearly every department in the council (including environmental health), and then Seymours had the gall to say I had never made a complaint!
The heating still doesn't work properly and to be quite frank I have given up even attempting to waste my breath with this company. They never respond to calls, emails or get the landlord out to complete the repairs.
When enviormental health came out they wrote to the agents to tell them the property needed a fire door. That was June 2013.
And guess what? No, it hasn't been fitted.
At the beginning of this year I had an inspection of the property and a note was made that I required a fire door to the kitchen and that the fire alarm was not working.
Guess what? Yeah that's right, nothing has been done!
Overall their response to issues concerning faults is appalling, they play the blame game on everyone but themselves and attempt to make you the tenant seem like incapable idiots.
I will never recommend them to anyone, in fact I will go out of my way to tell as many people as possible to avoid at all costs!
What agent could do to change your mind?
Be more curteous to your tenants
Be more responsive to complaints
Be more professional.
Update your system as it is archaeic.
Manage your landlords better
Stop playing the blame game.
Man up to your responsibilities as an agent.
