I arrived at my first viewing with Julian at 9:50, having booked it for 10am. I was aware there would be other tenants viewing the property at the same time so expected for Julian to be waiting somewhere visible until we all arrived at which point we would go round together. At 10:05 there was still no sign of him, so I contacted the office who asked me if I was on the right side (Mary Street) as opposed to the back. As Mary Street is at the back of the building and Mary Road is the front, I was still none the wiser. Julian eventually came out and it transpired that he had not bothered to collect all the prospective tenants for the viewing and had just decided to take in the first couple who'd turned up. He half-heartedly listed the rooms at which point his phone rang and the office told him there was another viewer waiting outside, so he left us to go collect him. This was in my eyes extremely irresponsible, as if I was the current tenant I would not want strangers left in my flat unsupervised.
For my second viewing, I was to be fair five minutes late due to finding parking, but as I'd waited for Julian for over fifteen minutes that morning didn't think it was that much of an issue. He greeted me not with hello or how are you, but instead went straight in with 'you'll have to be quick, I have another viewing in town after this'. It seems like basic common sense that if somebody is trying to make a decision as big as where to live for the next year, you should arrange viewings far enough apart to give them time to properly assess the property. He then spent five minutes trying to get into the property, at which point he said 'they've given me the wrong keys. The office isn't open at this time on a Saturday so you'll have to call back Monday' and walked off. I was left feeling quite frankly relieved that I was never going to have to see him again, and needless to say did not call back today to arrange another viewing.
What agent could do to change your mind?
They could have sent Ted Bundy and I would have felt more likely to rent from them.
