I have had a fair bit of experience of renting now but these guys are by far the biggest crooks that i have come across. The flat that I moved into was a 1-bed with my girlfriend as our first move together. In our naivety, and after going through the rigmarole of finding the property in the first place, we speedily agreed to the £60 each reference and credit checks and £300 to sign the tenancy agreement. Yes, £300 !! What exactly they do to justify this amount i am unsure, and how it is acceptable for them to do this i am also unsure !!
Having just signed an agreement to move to a new place i am now well aware that this is extortionate. Our new landlord charged us £50 for the referencing and nothing to sign the tenancy agreement.
At the first sign of a problem after we moved in we were speedily pointed in the direction of anyone other than Rochford Stokes, after initially being inflexible on viewing times and times for payments to be made (which we ended up having to make in cash).
when it came to moving out we also asked if we might be able to leave a few days early (which i was aware was going to be unlikely) to which i was given a resounding no, unless of course another tenant could be found. They then had the audacity to tell me that the London rental market had slowed and this was driving rent down - the biggest load of tosh of the whole saga !!
Overall i'd say steer clear if you can, either that or tell them to shove their £300 signing fee where the sun don't shine.
Awful customer service, overpriced, unhelpful, inflexible.
Other than that they have been great ....
What agent could do to change your mind?
Everything totally the opposite to how they did it.
