Avoid at all costs! Being a tenant has been nothing but a nightmare because of this incompetent letting agency. First off, we had a leak from the flat above. They claimed that it was not an issue they were aware of, yet I happened to meet a previous tenant who said that it had also happened to them. They didn't help to liaise with the landlord of the flat above and ignored any requests for redecorating the mouldy ceiling.
And then to the worst of it: Our flat was burgled in May, and the door frame was completely shattered, such that we couldn't even shut the door. I phoned the Lettings Group, knowing that they had an obligation under the contract to get someone to repair the door. Instead I was told that they didn't know of anyone who would be able to fix the door, and told me that I should contact people myself.
In the end, I had to pay £160 out of my own pocket (which they did repay) to get the door frame boarded up with metal. I had been phoning around to find locksmiths and carpenters myself all evening, after speaking to the police about the break-in. This caused a lot of stress for a long time, and all because the Lettings Group refused to do what was required of them.
It then took another THREE MONTHS for them to send someone out to fix the door properly - an incompetent man who never even finished the job, and didn't even turn up most of the time. This was despite us contacting The Lettings Group insisting that they fix the door properly.
The Lettings Group will try and extort as much money from you as possible - charging £150 for a "signing on fee" each year - which involves them simply changing the dates on the contract.
With the Lettings Group, their profits are always first, and the tenants are put firmly in last place. They will only take the contract seriously when it is the tenant who is liable. They simply have no interested in their obligations to their tenants.
