Showed up an hour late during check-in. Flat was cleaned 2 days after we moved in. Of course, it was not professionaly cleaned. We professionally cleaned the flat during check-out to avoid any unpleasant experience. Charges £120 for checkout. Don't know why they should charge the tenants when it is them who want to conduct the checkout.
Tried to charge £280 to replace bathtub side board that was damaged by the contractors sent by them to investigate a water leak. We had to follow up for nearly 9 months to fix the water leak and refit the side board. The latter was fixed by us as there was no action and property maintenance was notified about the same by email. In the checkout notes, it was mentioned that the vinyl sheet stuck to the side board was not the same color as before. At first Chase Evans should have thanked us and apologised to us for not fixing it themselves and during checkout they decided to slap a ridiculous amount for no fault of mine.
Seldom attends to repairs on time. Took ages to replace worned out matress and broken dining table. For the dining table, I was told that it was being shipped from Scotland when there are so many furniture stores near my area in East London.
Property was in repossession during the end of our tenancy. All letters to landload including the court notices came to us and we had to notify and redirect them to Chase Evans using our own money.
There is also a complete lack of communication between property maintenance team and the checkout department as they don't seem to keep track of emails and sync up the inventory list.
During the course of tenancy, they tried to raise rent from 700 to 870 after 1 year and settled at 758. The next year they tried to increase it to 900 and settled at 800. The year after they tried for 900 again but settled at 820. Nice try.
My sincere advice to potential tenants is to avoid Chase Evans. If you are already a tenant, please do keep a record of all emails as that's what is going to protect you from ridiculous claims. If you find a problem in your property please notify by email (not over phone) immediately and ensure that the email is saved. It took 5 weeks and several emails to get the deposit back. Chase Evans are supposed to be big players in the property market and making exorbitant claims for petty things is really cheap on them. It is equivalent to stealing from a beggar.
Chase Evans = Cowboy Evans. Period.
