We had many issues with Keeleys during the 18months we rented with them.
1) Every 6 months we received a bill for £40 which seemed to pay for the privilege of being sent a signed A4 sheet of paper confirming our continued tenancy.
2) They allowed workman into our flat without prior confirmation from me, leading me to believe that items had been removed from the flat. Of course this meant several phonecalls to the police, one of which was dreadfully embarrassing when I had to explain my agents couldn't do their job.
3) When I reported problems with my upstairs neighbours (loud music, loud fights, threats against myself and my partner, noisy animals etc etc) they managed to "name and shame" me to said neighbours... Not only is this very unprofessional, it put me in actual danger (I was often alone in the flat due to my partner's working hours.
4) Nothing was ever done about the above.
5) We reported problems with damp on numerous occasions, it was also noted on several of their inspections, but nothing was ever done to rectify this problem. As we have a young child we kept on asking for something to be done. Eventually it got very bad and I was forced to take something into their offices to show the extent of the damage being caused. Keeleys advised that we reported this to Enviromental Health as they could not get the landlord to act. EH inspected the property and gave recommendations. Within weeks we were GIVEN NOTICE TO LEAVE. They kicked us out for reporting an issue.
6) Now we are homeless they are demanding we return to the flat (which we cleaned ceiling to floor) to dust cobwebs from corners (which I vacuumed) and wipe a shelf.... Adding insult to injury.
7) Last year we spent weeks with a broken window latch in our daughter's room in a ground floor flat.
8) It took 3 leaks, several months and a flood to get the TOILET FIXED. We were practically paddling in our bathroom.
9) Our TV ariel never worked properly. When our neighbours went out our TV turned off. Really annoying after a long day with the baby and your movie turns off 10mins before the end.
They were always friendly, but unprofessional. Certain staff members would try and discuss things if you bumped into them in town, which is shocking. We were good tenants, even went out of our way to have a new boiler fitted, and they have done nothing to prevent our situation. To call me today demanding that, in our current situation, go back to the place and dust! DUST! I had to clean the place ceiling to floor when we moved in, so we left the place nicer than we moved in.
As I say, friendly but take your money and do very little (besides nice A4 sheets) in return.
What agent could do to change your mind?
I like friendly, I also like professionals to do their jobs and NOT MAKE US HOMELESS!
