Dealing with this agency was a terrible experience. There were many levels on which they failed. The first issue occurred when I was given incorrect information about the property by the sales agent I had been dealing with. I would remind anyone reading this that an estate agent cannot misinform a buyer about a property.
It was only after I had an offer accepted and committed to the sale via solicitors and post survey that the incorrect information came to light. The information provided resulted in significant additional costs incurred on my part.
I of course raised this with the agency and they 'investigated'. I requested all documentation pertaining to the information provided as a data protection request. Every question I had asked about the property was detailed and most of the answers I received, however I was informed that the one piece of information that would have proved they misinformed me was 'missing' or had not been documented. Any person with a grain intelligence would know this was withheld deliberately.
From this point the service provided continued to deteriorate as the branch manager became increasingly insulting, to the point that I was shouted at down the phone. Escalating to the company director was a waste of time also.
I can't stress strongly enough how bad my experience with Preston Baker was. I do not think that they deliberately misinformed me, however once they realised their mistake they did everything in their power to hide their mistake and do nothing to resolve the situation. to the point that they tried to cut off contact between me and the vendor to protect their reputation. They were dishonest and brazen in how they dealt with the situation. I have never been so poorly treated by any individual or organisation before. Months later I am still fuming. I would not recommend this agency to anybody. Steer clear.

The facts of the case are that you made an offer on a property which was accepted and you instructed your solicitor on the 17th July. On the 8th August you contacted us saying that one of our sales staff had informed you that it was in a stamp duty exempt area and you had based your offer on this meaning you now may not be able to proceed at the offer made. I investigated this by looking at the detailed notes we keep about conversations and interviewed the member of staff you indicated gave you this information. The result was that there are no records of this happening.
Even if this did take place when you instructed your solicitor on the 17th of July they would have informed you of all the costs you would be liable for, including stamp duty making this the perfect time to discuss this with us. The survey had not taken place by the 8th as access was arranged for the 12th of August.
As for cutting the communication with you and the vendor, you went round to the property without informing Preston Baker after which they asked that we contact you and request that you only come through us.
I fully dispute your claims over dishonesty as we were nothing but upfront about the situation throughout its entirety
Mr Greenwood I am sure we will never do business together in the future and so I wish you all the best in your new home.
