Awful service - staff appear very friendly to start with, and say what you want to hear, but don't actually do what they promise. Things got so bad that our buyer had to contact us directly, and we are now sorting out the rest of the sale ourselves.
Our buyer was also told that we were indifferent about the sale going ahead, even though we had already found a house we had an offer accepted on with Spicers sister company, Haart. The sale almost fell through because of the involvement of the staff at Spicer. 'Negotiations' lasted over two months using them - however, within two days of being in contact with the buyer ourselves we had agreed a provisional completion date.
We had a meeting with the Branch Manager to attempt to resolve the issue, but he was rude and aggressive - at one point shouting whilst pointing his finger in my face! He was unbelievably unprofessional and wouldn't acknowledge there had a been a lack of service.
We have written a letter of complaint to the Regional Director, although if the Spicer staff we have encountered so far are anything to go by we probably won't get an adequate response. They are registered with The Property Ombudsman though so at least there is another route to take.
Please don't use Spicer McColl. It's not worth it.
