We visited a property that we intended to rent. Reservation free placed for £500 based on 12 month tenancy. Our employment status was an unusual one and cannot be calculated as standard. The agents said now we can only have 6 months tenancy and they need £4k up front before we move in! We rejected this offer as we can't afford £4k! Now they won't return our referencing fee or reservation fee. Our papers were never referenced with credit agency btw!
Disgusting.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Return our monies less small fee for their time!

Yes, the employment situation was an unusual one but we were genuinely trying to find a way forward that would be acceptable to the landlord and you. One option was to reject your application on the strength of your employment status but the other involved taking a larger sum of rent upfront. In doing so we were trying to find a solution that could work for both parties. I understand also that the reservation fee was refunded back to you. I feel it’s a shame that this note was posted, as we strive to provide our best possible service to all of our clients, but hope that in future we can be of service to you.
