We originally let our property for 2 years with Buttercup lettings and had to pay 8% commission on the whole 2 years' rent plus vat at the start of the tenancy. The tenants then invoked the break clause and moved out after 6 months. Despite verbal assurances that we would be reimbursed 18 months' commission, we have still not be repaid and have now started legal proceedings. In addition, in the 2 months since the tenants gave notice, the agents have not arranged one single showing of the house. We have now been left with a house which is not let out and over £3,000 of commission owing to us.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Repaid the commission at the end of the tenancy, responded to all e mails and returned the keys to the property by post as promised.

So many facts missing from this story Kathy. You agreed to pay this amount on the basis that there would be no further renewal fees. Furthermore you were advised that a credit of fees would be offered if you allowed us (along with other agents if you wished) to re-market during the two month notice period. You didn't.
