I am no longer a tenant of this dreadful company and hateful property...thankfully, but I felt I had to leave a message to warn other people with regards to the agent and property!
Firstly the viewing was a pressured experience where the agent had purposely invited many prospective parties to view at the same time, a really horrid pressured situation as you are so aware of how quickly properties are let in this area....really not fair or professional.I should really have left at that point.
So, the property itself, well it turned, very quickly into a nightmare situation.....actually on the afternoon we moved in...we learnt the the woman downstairs liked to play very loud music:-(.
The situation escalated very quickly as the woman in flat A didn\'t respond to multiple polite requests to be considerate so we had many sleepless nights resulting in multiple calls and visits from the anti noise enforcers from the council. We soon learnt that the reason the previous tenant left was due to the noise, a fact that the agent failed to divulge when asked at the viewing.
The agents were less than bothed by the obvious distress caused by this dreadful situation, despite the fact the contract mentioned \'quiet enjoyment\' ...yep, exactly... Anyway it took visits to the office, many angry calls and I was just short of getting a solicitor involved to break the contract, but we still had to wait for another tenant to take over, at that point we booked into hotels as we couldn\'t face living in that situation any further. Luckily we had only rented this hateful place so we could be close to work in the week and could escape back to our house at the weekends....with the option of enjoying London at the weekends..this happened once due to the horrendous experience.
We rented this property in good faith so we certainly didn\'t expect the situation to turn out this way:-(.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Don\'t accept properties on to your books that have anti-social or other issues that are going to make prospective tenants lives a misery. Make landlords accountable and ensure they resolve any issues before you will represent their property. Stop multiple party viewings, it really is unprofessional and doesn\'t give people a chance to think clearly about the situation.
