The single most horrific experience in my life. NEVER EVER rent with Accord.
To start with they were absolutely brilliant, unfortunately once we had paid the holding fee for our property, the excellence stopped.
To start we were given a moving in date, and then at 9.30 that morning we were called to say that the moving date had to be pushed back 2 weeks. They told us the flat was to be professionally cleaned, however this clearly wasn't done, and some of the cutlery even had mouldy food on it.
After I cleaned the house myself from top to bottom i discovered the bottom of the mattress provided was absolutely thick with black cat hair. Then we noticed the two sky lights in our property were wedged open, and we couldn't get in to the property through the rear door, so maintenance came round to fix this, but so did the landlords daughter, who then decided she would go into our bedroom, go through our wardrobe and drawers, and then sent us a letter saying we had been smoking in the property because I had left my ashtray outside the backdoor.
Then they sent us a letter saying they were coming round for a 'property visit' Clearly because the landlords daughter had rifled through my stuff earlier that month I wanted to be in my home for the visit, they told us they were coming round at 10am, this is a time unsuitable to me or my partner as we work 9-5, we told them we were happy to accommodate the visit but it had to be after 5pm. They refused and came round. So i had to take time off work for this. They told me this visit was so we could discuss maintenance, as still half the things in my flat were broken. The Landlords daughter, Tim Dockerty from the agency and some man (who I still have no idea who he is) came into my property, looked around and walked out without even introducing themselves!
Then a month later, they said they wanted to come visit the property again, so this would have been the 3rd visit in 2 months.
They wanted to come round at 11am this time, which once again wasn't an acceptable time as we work, so we said can you please rearrange it. They refused.
I was feeling ill on the day they were supposed to be coming round in bed. When I heard a knock at the door, I decided that I would get up get some pyjamas on and go and answer the door, before I had chance to do this, they had used keys to try and enter the property. Thank god I had put the latches on.
Then I had Tim Dockerty and this random man trying to gain access to my house by the front door whilst the woman landlord stood at the backdoor whilst it was open on the latch.
I went to the door to ask her why she was here, and if she knew her legal rights to the property to which she replied ¢â‚¬Ëœits my house I can walk in whenever I want, you silly little girl'
This obviously terrified me and actually made me have a panic attack to which I rang my mother who luckily works 2 minutes away, she immediately came round as they were still outside the property, to which the random man told my mother I was a liar!
They then came round AGAIN 2 days later, finally at 6pm like we had told them multiple times, with the maintenance people.
Now we are about 5 months into our tenancy, and have just had the maintenance guys in YET AGAIN. And still NOTHING important has been fixed.
We weren't able to have any hot water, therefore couldn't do any washing up in the 3 weeks we had the heat wave as in our house you can't have hot water without turning the heating on..
Not to mention they tried to arrange another visit for the start of September at 10am, and also reduced our tenancy agreement from 12 months to 6 months.
What agent could do to change your mind?
good customer service isnt hard to give.
